Love Changes You

Less Is More's Lucky Dip #26 calls for fruit or fruit colors.

Think 2Cr 5:17.

I have this AWESOME orange slice notepad.  I used a page to cut an apple out  with my Papertrey Ink apple die.

I created the sentiment with my JustRite Curlz font.

If you own any JustRite fonts that have multi-sizes...you can't do the bigs and littles together.  It took me many stampings to GET that.

When I couldn't get an even stamping...I held the stamper horizontal and looked.

Yup, the bigger font was taller than the smaller font.

I inked up the smaller font first, and then did "INSIDE" separately, careful to baby wipe the outside edges just in case I got those also.

The black strip was a freebie from ages ago...but it got me headed in this direction.

Check out all the other fruity submissions...they look yummy and I am about to head there myself. ;)

A Sketch, Silver String, and Trigger Colors

I simultaneously made this second Moxie card with my previous post's card.

I've had a sketch in the back of my mind for three days now.

The strip of paper has TONS OF SQUARES ON IT and

already had a butterfly cut out.  I simply put glue in the void and added chunky glitter.

I had to spray some fixative...because that glitter started to fall off.
Take my advice....

DON'T spray fixative IN YOUR HOUSE.

Take it outside.

cough, cough, sputter, sputter....

This smell will probably last for a few days...what was I thinking???

sigh.

Live and learn, right?

Here's the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger photo again.

Mark's Finest Papers: Speedy Cat's Friends Challenge #66 is calling for anything but ribbon.

I used this silver string that I know nothing about...except that it's in my stash, and it came in handy! ;)
Thanks for peeking in, especially if it's your second visit from Moxie Fab. ;)

Quilt Squares and an Encouraging Verse

I've been scratching my brain and mulling over Moxie Fab's latest Tuesday Trigger.

Then I saw ODBD 70 Sketch.

I used Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Pendant's smaller square die and added an inked up Martha Stewart Eyelet Seal on each square.

CAS Christmas Card Colored with White Ink

I love stamping and embossing on black paper!

I also love tall, skinny cards!

This card is a combination of challenges which inspired the final product.

I stamped the birch trees and sentiment in Versamark, and embossed with silver powder.  I had to use the image 1 1/2 times to reach the height of the card.

Then I "painted" the trees with white ink and a Fantastix that was recycled (I snipped off the ink that was there).

The branch  is cut out a bit to hang the wreath which was stamped with Versamark and embossed with copper powder.

I used the end of a paint stick to apply the dots with white ink.

The following challenges were my inspiration:
~Papertrey's Make It Monday #25 has a tutorial video to show you how to color with white ink.
~Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #128 calls for Christmas projects.
challenges you to make a 4X9 clean and simple card!

Hey, thanks for peeking in stampy friends. ;)

Banner Border From All of Us

I love the look of banners!

Simply Scrapping Crafts July Challenge Banners motivated me to make a card with a banner border. ;)

I made my own design by cutting down tags and piecing them like a quilt.

I added rhinestones to cover the holes.

The pretty colors at Color Throwdown #152 were my inspiration.

Card Patterns Sketch 125 also inspired me.

Thanks for peeking at my card. ;)

Daisy Keepsake for Me

I hit a few challenges today that motivated me to make something for...

well... me. ;)

No one else would appreciate it as much.

See the Gerbera Daisy header on my blog?

That's a picture of the flowers my husband gave me one year. ;)

Here's what's left of that gorgeous orange-faded to coral...

all dolled up.

I pressed that flower in a phone book lined with paper towels and laminated it after it was dry.

It's been sitting amongst my crafties for almost 2 years!

Now it's been paired with piercing, a combo of colors, and embossing.

The challenges that motivated me to DO SOMETHING with this daisy:

Sticker Card with 3Hearts

This was different for me...a card made with a sticker!

It's a really cute sticker.

I added the fringe layer.

I notice that lately there is a lot of "hanging out there"/off the edge layers

...I kind of like it.

Makes me feel like a rebel. ;)

It was perfect for CAS-Fridays Challenge CFC12

The three hearts (I added the button to make a FULL 3) were perfect for

Stamp-A-Faire Challenge #10 Button Tree

Your challenge is to "add a stamped focal point over a stamped background, all in the same layer!"

I used the Grunge Me splatter for a background and circles for this tree.

The buttons add a bit of dimension.

I entered this is Less Is More #25 Recipe button or ribbon (or plurals thereof) also.

Thank you for taking the time to stop in. ;)

Papertrey's July 2011 Blog Hop

I made a little tissue box card today.

I've wanted to make one like this for awhile.

I cut the "tissue box" with an oval cutter and then put an acetate square behind the hole.

Then I cut an "X" with a craft knife and pushed some tissue through.

Thinking tissue would be too cutesy for a sympathy card,

I thought a good book....the type that makes you cry... would be fun.;)

I am making this post short so you can hop along.....

Here is the inspiration photo:

Big Brother

I know of a new big brother.

He has a baby brother.

I didn't even realize the stamp was titled, "Brotherly Love", until the card was done.  HA!

Perfect!

Embellish's Patterned Paper Color Trends Challenge had some awesome colors to pull from.

Just Add Ink:JAI77  had an awesome sketch that really helped me.

I made this card for my mom.

She LOVES fall!

Check out this gorgeous photo that inspired me from FYI Challenge #10.

Here is the sketch I used from Pals Paper Arts #103.

I hope you like my funky card.  I know the shape isn't conventional...but it felt right for this project.

Stamp-A-Faire #9 A New Perspective

"Your challenge is to look at your stamps in a new way, turn them, rotate them at new angles and see if YOU can come up with anything unique!"

This is probably the most CAS card I have EVER done.

I hear the thunder rolling...and our power went out last night.

I'm not taking any chances. ;)

The "glasses" were taken from this image in Papertrey's Game On

I used painter's tape to tape off the rest of the image. ;)

Then I scored the bottom for SOMETHING.

Stamp-A-Faire #8 Cut Back

Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire #8

This is the challenge:  "Create a card with an front cover that is cut back by an inch or so.  The extra lip invites you to add a sentiment, a strip of patterned paper, a bit of glitter, just so many opportunities!"

I started this card intending to do Challenge #9.

I thought the books aligned this way looked like a dress form.

My husband thought it looked like a mixer.

In case YOU didn't see it as a dress form....I cut back an inch and I'm submitting it for Challenge #8. ;)

I WOULD like to know if you saw a dress form. ;)

Stamp-A-Faire Challenge #6 Notched Apple Card

"Your challenge this afternoon is to use the little notch technique to hold twine or ribbon in place across the cover of your project.  You can use a circle punch of any diameter to create a round notch or a square punch for a square notch."

I used a small circle punch to make my notched card.

This is a great technique to hold twine or ribbon! ;)

I used some Fiskars Paper Edger scissors to cut the borders of the center strip and the sentiment block.

Stamp-A-Faire Challenge #7 Playdate of Images

Stamp-A-Faire Challenge #7 is my favorite so far!

I used Grunge Me's modern rectangle and Boy Basics Game On button.

I made a similar modern flower back in May, using these two sets.

This one, however, has one more element from a third set.

Do you recognize it?

It's the stem from the Fruit Fusion Apple Stamp Set!

"We would love to see YOUR take on pairing up a hot pink, like Raspberry Fizz, with a charcoal grey (like Smokey Shadow)."

I love these apple stamps and die!
Thrown in with pink?  It's like a party... ;)

Black and White with a Splash

Playdate Cafe #91 has a gorgeous challenge.

Black and white with a splash of one color.

I LOVE black and white.

A splash of color?

Even better!

I  "free embossed" the background like I did in this card.

I stamped in Versamark and then embossed the image with black.

Then I swiped the whole scene with Tim Holtz Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink pad.

There's a layer of texture with the corrugated black strip.

It was one of my quickest cards, once I got started.

Thank you for stopping in. ;)

Furniture too Expensive, But I Can Make a Card!

Using an inspirational photo and a wonderful sketch, I was able to make a card today.

My basket stamp on the larger die cut mimics the gorgeous furniture I can't buy right now. ;)

The branch mimics the greenery in the background.

Can you see those pillows?

The picture is bigger at the link for Crate and Barrel.

They are gorgeous pillows that inspired me to stamp the flowers with Versamark and emboss with white powder.

I colored the bigger flowers with Memento markers.

You know what I found out?

If you stamp with Versamark, white emboss and get a little marker on the embossed area when you color...you can wipe that marker right off the embossed area!

I used a slightly damp baby wipe (it had been sitting out for oopsies and wasn't soaking wet).

You might already know that....but it was NEWS TO ME...GOOD NEWS!

SIGH...IF ONLY THERE WERE DO-OVERS LIKE THAT IN THE REAL WORLD.

Right?

I used Mojo Monday's 200th sketch

Thank you for stopping in, I really appreciate it. ;)

Safer With a Party Fork and Instructions

Love the romantic look of hat pins, but haven't taken the plunge?

I have a fun substitute.

I'm safer with these party forks, ;)
sold as a 50 piece pack at my Walmart.
Here are pictures showing how to secure these lovelies with a mini hair band.

First, punch 3 holes and poke a band into the first.

Lay the fork down and poke the band into the middle hole.

Flip it over.

Insert one end into the other and then stick it back up through the last hole.
 Flip it over.

Take this last loop and stretch it down, bringing it back under the bottom of the stick.

You want to bring it up over both tines, not just one...but I inserted this picture so you could see which direction to bring the rubber band up.

It is now secure.

But is it safe?

It CAN be a little sharp, so I glued beads with Glossy Accents.

There, now I can trust this won't hurt the recipient or me.

I hope this will be an answer for those that want to add a hat pin,
but aren't willing to live on the edge.

Kudos to you that risk life and limb, ;)

those pins are gorgeous and I wish I were that brave.

Now the others can have a little romance on their cards too. ;)
