Mixed Media-ish

I love the freestyle look of mixed media and journaling...but I'm not ready to bring out the paints and get messy.

I can still get the look by grunging with a background like the mesh from Market Street stamps.

I laid down misc paper scraps and stamped over them.

I did the same technique here, but with border stamps.

You still get a "template" look, but without the template and paints.

I criss-crossed with pink and purple backgrounds for the color challenge at

Create Cards Blog Challenge:March 2013.

CASE Study Challenge #132
Julie Ebersole

Her beautiful card reminded me of how much I love SPLATTERS!

Dabbing from Copic and Memento pens can look like splattered paint.

I was determined to participate~if only to have a great reason to splatter~or rather, DAB! ;)

I also used the negative image for

Oh, we can't WAIT for spring to come!!!

We can't wait for the SUN to shine brightly~

I created a collage card for the

There are SO MANY color inspirations to choose from at Nichole's blog~

I picked this combination because I love the pink, orange and yellow here.

Posh Baby

I created a POSH BABY card for

Make It Monday: The Diecut Double-Up

It was fun to grab colors and a pattern I wouldn't normally throw together and just "play".

I even added a bow~not my usual embellishment~aren't you proud???

Rosie Posie and a Gradient Look

It took me a few tries to achieve this gradient look with two powders (pink and lime).

The only downside was, I couldn't pour the extra powder back in the containers...I didn't want to contaminate the pure colors.

I designated a "mixed" container for times like these...it will be interesting to see what color combo results after a few months.

These two stems are from Papertrey's Rosie Posie~they are easy to line up and fun to work with.

Use 10 Embellishments Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

I brought out my beads and sequins and scattered them about with Glossy Accents glue.

Make It Monday #101 Layered Embossing

is hosted by Heather.

After getting my image the way I wanted it, I took the plunge and embossed the sentiment in yellow over it.

I must admit~I was a bit nervous about overheating it.

I love the outcome though!

This is a great way to use up that gorgeous embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by~have a blessed day now~

i miss you tree

CASE Study Challenge #116

Angeline Yong

I love the simplicity of her card featured this week!

I tried to mimic the minimalist look by stamping my "tree", which is really one of the rays and a burst from PTI's Hello Sunshine.

I inked up with Versamark and embossed with Stampendous Aged Embossing Enamel~I highly recommend the stuff.

There is nothing like it....it's gritty, sparkly and packs a punch!

I don't mean to be a bummer with the sentiment...

but many times Christmas brings about nostalgic memories of those we can't be with on that special day.

I'm sure the feeling is reciprocated~

The Blessing of an Ordinary Day

Appointments, commutes, lessons and the like are what ordinary days are made of.

ORDINARY, AVERAGE DAYS ~ are what make life,

well,

LIFE...

the building blocks of a home, the stairsteps to normal or a new normal.

In the midst of chaos and transition...

an ordinary lifestyle is

EXTRAORDINARY.

I used one of the beautiful sentiments from TT's Ordinary Days.

Brayed Walnut Stain distress ink on an embossing folder pulled up the retro design.

The little images/sentiments from BoBunny's Remind Me Clearly Calendar Set created the "sentiment background" for my card.

I love that they capture "ordinary" activities.

I went with the striking colors from Moxie Fab's

~Blog Header Card~

CAS-ual Fridays CFC72 has a GENIUS idea this week...
Toot Your Own Horn~create a project inspired by your blog header.

How cool is that????

I love it!

I think it's fun to read about the headers.

My youngest girlie wanted this cool citrus floatie~and to justify the cost...I thought I should use it as a prop. Had this great idea to put my crafties and some bright cards on it and let it coast!

Funny thing is...I wasn't worried about the cards (I give them away and they've been archived)...but I was seriously gulping once the float moved and I saw my Copics and stamp pads stare back at me all helpless like.

 IT WAS SAD!

After "the shoot" was over...I coaxed them over to me, whispering sweet 'nothings and "apologizing" to my favorite tools. ;)

You might be rolling your eyes right now...but try taking your faves and send them out into the middle of a pool and then we'll talk. ;) LOL.

It's so weird.  I didn't expect to react that way.

Ironically, they didn't make the final cut as the header, but did make it in the smaller pic at the bottom of my list on the left sidebar.

Enough chatter...here's the card:

I meant to create a "playful" card...but I started reflecting..as I always do when I stamp.

Our handbell choir is operating at 60% right now...each and every person matters in such a choir (AND IN LIFE)~RIGHT?!

You don't have to be a big slice to matter in God's eyes.

You matter because He says you matter.

"And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you. No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary." 1 Corinthians 12:21-22

AMEN?!

I'm curious to see the blog header interpretations this week....

Take care friends~

~Give All Your Worries to God~

I love the new scripture set released by ODBD.

Check out this verse:

He does, you know!

I added stitches for

Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge 121

Theme:You Leave Me in Stitches

I added blue and pink hexagons and a brown scalloped circle for

Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger:A Pin Therein.

Also, there are flecks and dots of colors in the largest scalloped circle...which made me think of the pins here.

It's not safe for me to add pins to a card.

Trust me on this.

~Nothing is Impossible~

I gave this week's Play Date Cafe #147 a go.

I die cut a white scalloped circle and used an inked acrylic block (Tim Holtz Pine Needle) for the backdrop.

The Waltzingmouse butterfly is embossed with Stampendous Rubellite powder.

There's glossy accents on the sentiment panel...so it's shiny in person.

Time is running out (one day left) for the

~Bookmark~

While I had my Teeny Trees out, I made this also.

A simple tree bookmark to throw into an envelope.

I'm less and less afraid of using patterned paper.

Can you tell?

I think having them out, where I can see them, makes them seem like friends. ;)

I don't have an anniversary sentiment for Verve's Anniversary Card Challenge,

but I felt this would do.

Plus, it's the truth. ;)

Right?

My husband and I have been married 20 years.

It's not perfect.

But it sure is wonderful!!! ;)

~Go Confidently~

Got a bit random today.

I get it from my girlies.

Random is IN, you know.

My youngest is begging to go buy a stuffed Jamaican banana~dreadlocks and all

(rumored to be in an amusement park shop 4 hours away from us) .

Seriously.

This is her dream.

I can't make this stuff up.

I combined two stickers to create a random scene for her in honor of the

Minty Fresh Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Maybe she'll get that banana soon~or perhaps she'll search for a crowned rhino or anything else random that's CLOSER to our house.

I used Tim Holtz black crackle paint to edge a layer of this card.

I used these extra TV remote stickers I saved to create a card.

There were others~24 to be exact.

So many areas to be entertained...who knew?

If I had that many....NOTHING WOULD GET DONE.

~Grant Me Serenity~

The Sweet 'n Sassy Virtual Stamp day is still going on...

I created this card for Challenge #5:Inspiration.

Here's the photo:

Pretty snazzy, huh?

I tried out my new Tim Holtz distress color, Victorian Velvet here.

The cut out butterflies from Sweet 'n Sassy's New Beginnings die set worked as stencils.

The sentiment is from the New Beginnings stamp set.

I remember my grandmother had this sentiment hanging in her kitchen.

I read it every time I visited her~but I was too young to comprehend the meaning.

Now, I GET IT.

Stamps:Sweet 'n Sassy New Beginnings
Dies:Sweet 'n Sassy New Beginnings,Spellbinders classic circles
Paper:Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic Sparkle,Georgia Pacific white
Ink:Versamark,Ranger Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet
Other:Martha Stewart corner punch Double Loops, black embossing powder

~A Great Calm~

I was able to make another card for the Virtual Stamp Day~Challenge #3.

The Verse is Mark 4:39.

Here is the sketch:

I played with my Gelatos last night...I've wanted them since viewing

I embossed this gorgeous scene (won last month~thank you Sweet 'n Sassy!)
with glossy white.

I tried a grittier embossing powder~Antique white~ first, but it trapped the color~do over!

After it cooled I gelatoed all over it.

Don't get scared~it looks like you used crayons (when you were three)

until you add

a few swoops of a baby wipe or water.

It's a neat coloring experience!

Blessings~
