SAF 2017:Take-Ten Warm Up Challenge

My girlie made my day just now...she walked past my card and said, "That's a cool card".

I thought so, but since she said it (and she's a teen), it's legit. ;)

stamps: Papertrey Ink (retired) Make It Market Kit Tinsel & Tags dies: Papertrey Ink (retired) Make It Market Kit Tinsel & Tags,Spellbinders Scalloped Circles/Classic Circles

I was inspired by Make It Monday #295 Challenge
(hosted by Ashley), but didn't get around to making one in time.

So, I thought I'd use it in my 10 min planning for

I used this color scheme...

http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2017/08/saf-2017-ten-minute-warm-up-challenge.html

I followed the 10 min increments mentioned (except I had to pause about 5 min to kill a wasp in my den!!!).

It took me a few min after that to recover...

I gave myself more time to create another one~

stamps: Papertrey Ink (retired) Make It Market Kit Tinsel & Tags/Spruce & Sprigs/A Thrill of Hope
dies: Papertrey Ink (retired) Make It Market Kit Tinsel & Tags,Spellbinders Scalloped Circles/Classic Circles

I added more details and colors, since I didn't have a time limit to aim for.

This card fold is my new fave!!!

(stamp: Verve Everything Nice   dies: My Favorite Things Stitched Dome Frames/Tree-mendous  other:Pebbles Basics Cardmaking Pad 2,enamel dots)

I'm guessing I went about 5 more minutes.

Thank you, Time Out, for the optional part.

For You, Altenew

It's MONDAY!

New week, new surprises. :)

Here's my card for today~

stamp: Altenew Handmade Tags/Bells & Bows  dies: Altenew Handmade Tags/Bells & Bows, Avery Elle Wonky Stitches  other: Dylusions Ink Sprays

I just got my order from Altenew~I've had my eye on yummy striped tags and couldn't wait to stamp my own.

I used these colors~

The blue/green sprayed base panel was a scrap left from a previous project.

The Days Ahead

I know a couple of ladies that started college and I made them each this card.

(stamp: Verve Forever in Our Hearts  dies: My Favorite Things Stitched Square/Wonky Stitched Circle/Tree-mendous,Avery Elle Double Stitched Rectangles)

Cacti are special to these young women
(long story but I'm glad succulents are IN right now...it makes creating for them easier).

The sentiment, taken from a Verve sympathy set,
 isn't your typical send-off-to-college greeting.

However, the last time I spoke with them, they were pretty freaked out about this milestone.

I hope this brings comfort and reminds them:
one. day. at. a. time.

No matter what, they are loved and we're still here for them!!!

My colors were taken from the following photo...

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2017/08/just-us-girls-408-photo-week.html

I love summer themes...esp flamingos, pineapples and ALOHAAAA.

However, I couldn't get a gold tree trunk out of my head
(plus I was trying to work in the cacti pp)...

so this happened.

That should be my bumper sticker...

so this happened

😄

Here Comes the Sun

I wanted this to look as clean as possible~with a hint of color.

I couldn't resist a staple.

(stamp: Verve Rise and Shine (temp. free digi)   dies:My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circles, Papertrey Ink Tag Sale #5/Songbirds)

Here comes the sun (doo doo doo doo)
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right

I don't want to be the only one with this diddly in my head.

you're welcome
:)

Sending Happy Thoughts

I'm slowly getting into trees~'tis the season...

(stamp: Newton's Nook Fanciful Flowers,Pretty Pink Posh Thoughtful Greetings  dies: My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circles/Square Frames/Tree-mendous, Avery Elle Star Frame)

Although not about trees, the following inspiration got me started.

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/08/just-add-ink-374inspiration.html

The round white plate had me grab for a cut and stamped wavy circle that's been sitting on my desk.

I used it for a tree head :)

I framed the sentiment with a brown "table", and added shiny gold elements instead of silver (spoon element).

I've gotten a lot of stampy time in today and I'm loving it~

Thanks for stopping by friends!

God's Masterpiece Snowflake

I've got another Christmas card~

(stamp: Verve Potter's Clay  dies: Papertrey Ink What the Doodle:Snowflake/Tag Sale #5)

These aren't your traditional Christmas colors, but I love this combo.

My husband loves orange and I love blues, greens, and in between. ;)

I guess this combo makes me think of us.

Have a good one~

Orange and Black Christmas Card

My hubby loves orange and this might be his Christmas card.

The BEST is Yet to Come

Some days I'm reminded how little I know...

(stamps: Sweet n' Sassy Stamps Inspirational Word Art2, Verve Kindness Matters/Great Friend/Potter's Clay flowers)

Seriously, God has shown me such amazing blessings lately that I couldn't have even dreamed.

Not only His faithfulness, but answers to prayers I had not even thought of!

Sure, there are disappointments in life...but there are just as many, if not MORE, blessings.

I just have to be still and receive with a trusting heart.

This is why I chose neon pink to pop against an unexpected earthy tan with pops of blue enamel dots.

Fresh, unexpected colors for a fresh, unexpected God who surpasses all understanding.

Thanks for stopping by friends~

Happy Birthday Daisies

I did a little bit of sponging and simple stamping to create a birthday card.

(stamps: Stampendous Daisy Thanks, Hero Arts Operation Write Home)

I went with the following colors~

http://just-add-ink.blogspot.com/2017/08/just-add-ink-372colour.html

I've only run errands but feel like I've been around the world and back.

Yikes it's only Tuesday.

Stamping is my mini vacation, for reals people!

It's the one "me" thing I've got and I'm so grateful for it!

Thanks for stopping by~

Bloom in Adversity Poppies

I can think of a number of friends to give this card to~

(stamps: My Favorite Things Pretty Poppies  dies:My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circles)

I'm surrounded by really strong women!

The assembly was pretty straightforward~the 6X6 panel remnant  already had a circle die cut out of it.

Of course this

this MFT sketch came to mind. :)

http://www.cardchallenges.com/2017/08/wednesday-sketch-challenge-sketch-345.html

I used a section of leftover splattered cardstock to showcase these dramatic poppies.

All the Patterns Gift Card

I went cray with some patterned paper today, friends.

It was that kind of weekend.

I had all the feels so I went with any paper I desired to create a gadgety card.

(dies: My Favorite Things Blueprints 11/Gift Card Grooves, Avery Elle Star Frame)

The smiley face from this Blueprints set was just the ticket for a "handle" to pull the gift card out of the slot.

I clipped it rather than stuck it on, so it wouldn't damage the gift card.

Gift Card Presentation

My wide washi roll was perfect for the shiny face~I stuck it on heavy cardstock and then cut it out.

It paired beautifully with the silver glittery clip.

That's it for me today friends, thanks for stopping by~

Pastels, Pencils & a Hint of Black

I challenged myself to work with pastels today.

(stamps: Simon Says Stamp Wild Beauty   dies:Winnie & Walter In A Word Hugs Cutaway,Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Borders, Avery Elle Wonky Stitches)

I followed the sketch and a couple of pastel colors in the following challenge~adding a hint of black as lining.

http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.com/2017/08/fusion-pastel-pencils.html

I thought the cloud border would work as an interesting element here.

I'm pleased I can use it more often, and not just for a sky scene.

yup, it feels like a Monday alright. ;)

One foot in front of the other, people....

Travel Card

So I tried another card for Time Out...this time I looked  past the chocolate bar.

:)

(stamps: Sweet 'n Sassy Inspirational Word Art 2,(retired) Lawn Fawn Bon Voyage,Verve Borderline  dies:Memory Box Pinpoint Main Street Tags,My Favorite Things Rectangle Peek-a-Boo/Stitched Oval Word, Lawn Fawn Bon Voyage cloud)

It's an interactive card...I wanted to include a couple of sentiments under the flaps~

Inside:

(stamp: Sweet 'n Sassy Inspirational Word Art 2   die:My Favorite Things Stitched Dome Frame)

The wall map and masculine brown/beige color scheme led the tone for this multi-windowed creation.

A majority of my sentiment panels came from the Simple Stories You Are Here paper pad.

I die cut my favorite sentiments and went from there.

I'm all over the place today~multi-tasking in every direction.

At least I get to hang around the house today, though!

Yayyyyyy!!!

Forgiveness

UGH.

I'm working on this one guys.

Seriously.

Praying every day sometimes multiple times a day to have a forgiving heart.

(stamps: Verve Potter's Clay  die: Papertrey Ink Half & Half,WPlus 9 Quilt Cuts 1,Avery Elle Double Pierced Rectangles)

I don't know anyone to give this to except myself.

I need to put it somewhere I can see it.

I went with this lovely sketch~

it's back friends!!! :)

Cupcake Paperclip Card

I'm a sucker for cute paperclips~

(stamps: Wplus9 Written On Ribbon  dies:Simon Says Stamp Stitched Dress Up Tags,Avery Elle Star Frame/Wonky Stitches  other:Sizzix/Tim Holtz embossing folder)

I followed the lead of these colors~

http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/2017/08/color-throwdown-455.html

This cupcake paperclip already had two of the colors.

I took a memento marker and flicked the edges of the diecut panel~I also embossed with pink to bring in that third color.

It's propped on two tags so that the paperclip slips between the layers for easy removal.

I made sure to add the clip first, then adhere with score tape, so that I don't have to blindly slide it through the layers.

The stars were remnants of sprayed cardstock I had sitting around~so I added them for further backup of the blue shade.

I can see this card perfect for an older girl~a preteen, or a little girl that wants to feel grown up. ;)

Cacti Slats

I went with natural colors today~and something a little more subtle.

(stamps:Newton's Nook Cultivated Cacti  dies:Newton's Nook Cultivated Cacti, My Favorite Things Stitched Oval Word/Stitched Dome Frame)

When I saw the following inspiration pic, I couldn't wait to die cut window slats in the background.

I imitated the framed photo and showcased some cacti~

Neon Pink Nail Polish Splatters

My daughter thinned out her nail polish collection and passed on this fun neon.

I used it to splatter (carefully drip) accents for this card.

(dies: WPlus 9 Quilt Cuts 1, My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circles,Avery Elle Star Frame  other: Neon Pink Nail Polish)

I've got one more for this challenge~

Courage Splatter Card

I totally agree with this sentiment...

(stamps: Essentials By Ellen Courage Fundraiser  dies:Essentials by Ellen Courage, Avery Elle-ments Double Pierced Rectangles  other: Dylusions Ink Bubblegum and Vibrant Turquoise, Hero Arts Neon Pink Ink)

It takes strength to face each day, at times!

http://ellenhutson.typepad.com/the_classroom_new/2017/08/august-mix-it-up-challenge-avery-elle.html

I had a large box come in the mail and I'm just like a child...I threw the items to the side so I could use the box to collect the over spray.

~goodness me.

 ðŸ˜†

Thanks to the following challenge~I got to use those gorgeous ink sprays.

I love how the bubble gum and turquoise merged purple in the middle.

Super easy.

 Thanks for stopping in~

Comfort on Difficult Days

A cute umbrella and boots help rain look,...well, fashionable.

(stamps: Verve New Mercies, DoCrafts Puddles of Love  dies:My Favorite Things Cross-Stitched Ovals/Peek-A-Boo Wonky Windows  other:Prima flowers, enamel dots)

I'm sure I was thinking of Madeline when I colored this image..."we love our bread, we love our butter...but most of all..."

That being said...I paired it with an encouraging sentiment for the following challenge~

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2017/08/just-us-girls-405-word-week.html

These flowers were passed on to me and I thought they would add that something-something to the extra space in the sentiment window.

There are designers that ROCK these flowers~I did my best to channel that look. ;)

Though it's not my usual style, I enjoyed playing with the 3D aspect!

I'll probably be paranoid about how to send it, though.

The peek-a-boo/partially distressed image panel and wonky, angled sentiment window speak to my Marlenaness.

Thanks for stopping by~

Monochrome Greys & Pop of Color

Grey is my new favorite color.

When I say new, I mean in the past few years.

Just when I think I've moved on...I fall for it every time.

(stamps: Papertrey Ink A Thrill of Hope/Spruce & Sprigs  dies: Papertrey Ink Spruce & Sprigs/Tag Sale #5   other: cardbase My Mind's Eye Picket Fences)

hosted by Stephanie

inspired me to bring out all my gray and black inks and play a little.

I layered a few of those sprigs and popped the sentiment with Ruby embossing powder.

LOVE the rustic look.

I can see me assembling a few more with this technique.

Thanks for stopping by~
