Home: Pretty Much

Ok, so our home may not be perfect...

but it's pretty much so. ;)

dies: SugarPea Designs SugarCut-Home Sweet Home, My Favorite Things Cross-Stitch Ovals/Horizontal Stitched Strips  other:Heidi Swapp September Skies sentiment panel,Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers houses fussy cut,Reverse Confetti Forever My Love/Every Little Bit

I created this for my eldest girlie who will be moving closer to the big city soon.

I don't want her to forget us!!!!

I used the photo of blues, pinks and greens and the sketch to get this done.

I'll set this card aside until that dreaded day...

Stenciled Edges Teacher Cards

hosted by Lizzie Jones

I die cut my own stencil with a Winter Woods strip~

stamps: Papertrey Ink Garden Party/Teach & Inspire  dies: Papertrey Ink Winter Woods strip for stencil, Avery Elle Double Pierced Rectangles

The following colors inspired me~

http://theseinspiredchallenges.blogspot.ca/2018/03/inspired-by-hello-spring.html

I chose to blue the flowers though, since I sponged with Summer Sunrise.

My word, is it seriously Wednesday?

We are on spring break and I am all out of sorts!

This week is flying by too fast~

but I'm going to craft as MUCH AS I CANNNN...

Papertrey Ink March Blog Hop Challenge

It. Has. Been. a Long. Winter.

Not only is the snow and cold endless...

spiritually...I feel rundown.

It's been a shoveling snow kind of season...lots and lots of emotional what not to push through and get past.

ugh.

I need refreshing.

stamps: Papertrey Ink Inspired: Hope/Stylized Autumn  dies: Papertrey Ink Inspired: Hope/Brushed Off Rectangle/Stylized Autumn

The following photo had me all "ooooh and ahhh~pretty flowers"...

but the nest had me at

hmmmm.

https://blog.papertreyink.com/2018/03/march-2018-blog-hop/

Stamping, praying, reflecting is what helps me deal.

When I say deal, I mean

"help me Lord I'm drowning and discouraged".
I'm one of those always on, engine running... thinking peeps that can't chill.

I can't.
He, on the other hand...

can.

Jesus always shows up.

He offers me new hope, and a new beginning for whatever has me stressed.

I am renewed. I am refreshed, yet again. ;)

 Thank you Lord.

This card is going to my mom for Easter.

I made one for dad too.

The following photo had me look for any masculine colors to change up for dad.

The right photo has blues and darker pink.

http://justusgirlschallenge.blogspot.com/2018/03/just-us-girls-challenge-433photo-week.html

I had a sliver of autumn rose pink that I stamped with black and die cut leaves out of.

I wanted to convey the same message...he's been through some stuff lately.

He needs renewing as much as I do.

Thanks for stopping by friends~you make my day. ;)

Rainbow Spectrum of Flowers

I'm craving bright colors~allll colors besides the color of snow!

I corralled loose rainbow flowers within a border I stamped twice.

This let me check the saturation of at least 6 ink pads. :)

stamps: Concord & 9th Blooms Fill-in

Check out the special collaboration going on here which inspired my card:

Rainbow Streamers

Thanks to Winnie & Walter's generous drawings for their 4th Birthday Bash, I was able to stock up on some new dies to match my stamp sets.

When I opened the Happy Birthday to You Cutaways~I mistook the icing layers as streamers.

Once I realized their true purpose...I decided to use them as streamers anyway. ;)

stamps: Winnie & Walter Happy Birthday to You  dies: Winnie & Walter Happy Birthday to You Cutaways/In a Word: Birthday Cutaways

I cut out a handful of them, sponging the negatives in rainbow colors for the following challenge.

I glued down star confetti for a little something too~

Tranformation Deer Card

I love second chances!!

is an opportunity to redo a previous project at Papertrey Ink.

Here is my today card:

stamps: Papertrey Ink In the Meadow/Grunge Me/Game On sentiment  dies: Papertrey Ink In the Meadow, Avery Elle Double Pierced Rectangles  other: Martha Stewart Fringe Scissors

It's not as funky or bold as my older card from years ago:

I was all about texture and expression back then.

I still like my color choices!

However, I now appreciate white spaces and framing/matting.

I'd say I've become more of a card maker these days~vs. creating artwork on what "happens to be a card".

I believe I've sized down my creations considerably too.

Here's my old post if you're interested~

 Thanks for taking a look!

Verve Sketch Amazing Things

You were made for amazing things.

You were created to do things only you can do.

There is no one quite like you.

Hold on to that~

stamps: Verve Beautiful Things  dies: Verve Beautiful Flowers/Lovely Marquee, Papertrey Ink Brushed Off Rectangle

I created this card for my youngest~she had a big moment last night~a National Honor Society induction.

She is fearless.

She is bold.

She is nothing like me~ha!

It's allll her dad.

But, God made her exactly as she is~to do what He wishes her to do to glorify Himself.

Here is Julee's lovely sketch I drew from~in which I slid that vertical border more to the right and trimmed off the white
(it was getting to be a big card :) ).  Hope that's ok!

Make It Monday Enamel Splatters

I failed to use my embossing enamels this past Christmas.

There are three containers of this gorgeous Stampendous medium sitting on the sidelines of my craft room.

Thanks to the following challenge~I have met my goal in opening a bottle again!

hosted by Melissa Phillips

stamps: Papertrey Ink Meadow Greens/Palm Prints  dies: Papertrey Ink Meadow Greens/Palm Prints/Brushed Off Rectangle

Melissa demonstrates sprinkling and embossing to get a raised splattered effect.

This is a great way to use the stuff!

Here's a zoom in~

It looks promising in a jar, but when I first used it on Versamark inked images years ago~I couldn't predict the outcome of colors (because of the mixed-in gold).

The gold is AWESOME, but practically speaking, I didn't like the uncertainty of where the sparkle/color would land.

It would intimidate me~just sayin'.

So, I left it sitting there~thinking I'd try AGAIN...next Christmas.

However, with Melissa's technique, you sprinkle where you want it to stick and delicately heat (so as not to blow it right off the paper).

It's an embellishment, rather than the star feature.

I'm much more comfortable with this approach.

Thanks Melissa!

It's my first time inking up this set~

My hubby came home with a special Dunkin' doughnut for me~so sweet!

Hello Greens

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I grew up in Hawaii, where forgetting to wear green
(in elementary school) earned you a pinch!

I ALWAYS got pinched, because I was terrible at remembering!

It's taken years of NOT getting pinched to help me relax on St. Patrick's Day.

just sayin~

As for my card...this is one of the newest sets I own...my first from Pinkfresh Studio.

Create Along With Us March 2018

Yayyy Fridayyyy~

stamps: Papertrey Ink Words of Comfort/Garden Party leaves  die: Papertrey Ink Garden Party

Sympathy cards are the hardest for me to start on.

The following challenge gave me a jump~

https://blog.papertreyink.com/2018/03/create-along-with-us-march-2018/

I chose Lexi Daly's

card to pull from.

Her mostly white, with a pop of color seemed a good match for a different theme~one in which I hope I don't need.

However, life is life and it helps to be prepared.

Thanks for stopping by friends~

Bold Ricky

I have more tags from the Ikea set~

I decided to feature the raccoon. :)

Live Green

This is the month of green.

I miss my father-in-law so much~but especially during March.

He legit used to look like a leprechaun. :)

One thing he did, was live simply~but at peace.

stamp: Unity Give love-Laugh Lots sentiment, Papertrey Ink Doodlie-Do/Spruce & Sprigs  dies: Papertrey Ink Doodlie-Do/Spruce & Sprigs/Brushed Off Rectangle, Avery Elle Wonky Squares

I picked up on the green broken patterns in the following photo~but went with warm shades rather than cool.

Grey and black were used to break up the green~

You Were Made for Amazing Things

Today my eldest girlie turned 22~

she. is. AMAZING.

stamps: Verve Great Friend/Beautiful Things  dies: Verve Great Kindness, My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circles

I am in awe of all she's become~

The lovely Verve inspiration here gave me a start for her card...

http://vervestamps.blogspot.com/2018/03/march-2018-diva-inspirations-hop-and.html

I don't usually use green for her~maybe because she's always been a pink gal.

Lately, however, she's open to all colors...

and more veggies too. :)

Color Wheel Collage

hosted by Lexi Daly

It's a fun one folks!

I copied the color wheel order Lexi gave (because she has a better handle on this than I),

and I decided on a travel theme.

I used images and dies from five sets in Papertrey.

stamps and dies: Papertrey Ink Be Mine,Valentine camera/On the Wagon tree, ocean, luggage and sentiment/City Scene Eiffel Tower and taxi/SAF 2014-1980's Kit glasses/Grunge Me

Grunge Me gave some background support for those smaller images~

I really enjoyed this challenge, and can justify the large collection of images I've purchased

 :)

I visualized other cards for this challenge, so I can see me using this technique again.

Thanks Lexi!

Bold Stripes & Colors

I'm all in for color...esp since we have white stuff on our yards this morning.

stamps: Papertrey Ink Palm Prints/Meadow Greens  dies:  Papertrey Ink Palm Prints/Meadow Greens, Winnie & Walter In a Word: Hugs Cutaway

I went with bold colors and design for the following challenge~

http://timeoutchallenges.blogspot.co.uk/2018/03/challenge-104.html

I washi dipped my paper and die cut hugs for a touch of shine~and added girlie pink stripes for~

Simple Flower Birthday

Here's a little something I put together...

stamps: My Favorite Things Sketchy Flowers/Anything But Basic Birthday Greetings/Mosaic Background/Party Balloons bow   dies: My Favorite Things Peek-a-Boo Rectangle

It's simple, but features one of my favorite sentiments at the moment.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Tee-rific Mask & Stack

hosted by Betsy Veldman

stamps: Papertrey Ink On the Links  die: Papertrey Ink On the Links (for masking)/Tinsel & Tags

I LOVE Betsy's tutorial~so much easier than fussy cutting!

One little tip: I moved the mask over to let a smidgen of the bag  show~

this prevented a gap between the bags.

What a great challenge to stretch my stamps even further!!

I loved her tip on cutting post it notes on copy paper (to avoid picking up scraps from my cutting plate).

Thanks for stopping by!

Blues & Chocolate Transformation Tuesday

Yayyyy to SECOND CHANCES!!!

hosted by Lexi Daly

Here's my today card:

Here's a project from four years ago:

https://marlenaisfaithfullycrafting.blogspot.com/2014/05/blues-chocolate.html

Same stamps and colors, but I've scaled the size of my cards down CONSIDERABLY~

plus I'm closer friends with patterned paper! ;)

Also, sequins are a thing now, as are clear dots.

I still love the color combo and the leaves and sentiment~as well as the stamp company!

Thanks for stopping by~
