STRONGER & WISER

Yayyyy!!! Another second chance~

Make It Monday #145:2013 A la Carte

is a chance to try out a Make It Monday technique you've missed this year.

I gave Make it Monday #114 Blown Ink a try.

It's been a character building year for my family...but I wouldn't take back the storms that God led us through these past 12 months.

We are STRONGER,

WISER,

and God has been and IS faithful in His MERCY and WISDOM.

I'm not going to lie...the storms/thunder still scare me and I don't look forward to them.

But I wouldn't want to go through them without Him.

He is my ROCK for 2014...I pray I stay close close close to His voice and guidance.

We are all going to need it.

Happily Ever After...With Other Fun In Between

The girlies and I went to see Frozen last night.

I really liked it...esp. the "real" parts (hence the title of this post).

I won't spoil it for you...

Happily Ever After is something we all wish for, I'm sure...

but it's so hard to find!

I pray my girlies get pretty darn close, with God's guidance.

The sentiment is taken from my FAVORITE ROMANTIC set from Verve

~Love Story~

even the title makes me swoon!

I "blinged it" with one rhinestone and a doily
(which is blingy to me...since I almost never use one...).

We are getting the white Christmas my girlies had hoped for...it's so weird...since it was in the 50s this weekend!

Hey, I'll take it...if that's the weather God chooses to bless us with~it's still a gift to be able to live and breathe among my favorite people!

Have a good one friends~

SECOND CHANCES

YAYYYY for second chances!!!

I remember this trigger photo from Moxie Fab...

CASE Study Challenge #171

Here's a chance to create/share my take.

It wasn't what I "thought" I would do...but it's what happened.

Geez....that should be a bumper sticker on my car!!! LOL

seriously.

Anyhoo...when I saw this pretty bird on a branch in my Silhouette library, it took off from there.

After I cut the image out...I splashed the reddish/orange/yellow colors in, while preserving a black and white, open flower.

I already had a cut out mask of the PTI rose...so it seemed to be the B&W image to work around.

Of course, OFF TRACK AGAIN from my Christmas card train...but I promise you, I've made those too!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas~~~~~~~

COURAGE

It takes courage to live in this world.

It takes courage to give each day another try.

I LOVE this sentiment...because it includes the quiet souls~

This sketch inspired me to put this together...

http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/2013/12/mojo-monday-324.html

Once again...I have gone off the Christmas card track...LOL.

It's so funny...I am at my most productive...churning out "other" stuff...when I really, really have pressing projects at hand.

Die Cut and Stamping Two Snow Angels

Since my new blade and cutting mats arrived...I was motivated to make special cards for my "snow angel" nieces.

I hope they get to visit one day and play in the real stuff~

I love these sweet images from Hero Arts!

I stamped snowflakes which met the following challenge...

(use any stamp)

I'm also sharing this with the lovely crew at

Stop there and get a free sentiment!

Since I've hooked up the cutter and I'm in the ZONE...

I'm churning those die cuts OUT.

It's time to play with the designs I've collected over the year.

Hope you have a blessed day friends~your visits always make me smile! ;)

Penguin Bling

I thought I'd play with rhinestones on this card~no color~

just bling. ;)

This goes with the following challenge...

It was super easy...I'm getting better at using a sharp instrument to lift the rhinestones instead of picking them up with my fingers~they're easier to control that way.

Today was fun...I went "malling" with my girlies (NOT mauling, LOL).

Mostly, I just wanted to hang with my favorite people~we tried a "new" mall we haven't given a go yet.

I'm determined, with God's guidance, not to get all stressed out this season...I want to enjoy TODAY, RIGHT NOW...while it's happening.

I mean, it's really all we've got, you know?

YOLO, man, YOLO

Hope you are doing the same friends (within reason, of course...responsibly and all)

 *wink*

NOEL Word Play and Bookmarks

I've enjoyed playing with my ODBD bookmark dies and stamps.

This was created for a dear friend~

I'm submitting this to

ODBDSLC184  N-O-E-L Word Play

This week's challenge is: NOEL Word Play (use items beginning with each letter in noel to create your card or project) eg. N- notions, nestabilities, negative O- oval or circle shape, olive, old E- embossing, embellishments, eggplant (color), envelope L-Lace, layered, letterpress

N-negative snowflake
O-older paper (2009) & ornate (the most ornate paper I have!)
E-elegant (the most elegant/matchy-matchy stamps I have)
L-long and lean card

Here is a simpler card with a removable bookmark also~

It's fun to roll bookmarks out of my Big Shot when I don't have the time to design a card..but still want to create.

Those longer cereal/cake mix boxes are treasures for cutting out thicker bookmarks.

This fantastic idea inspired me two years ago~it's from a

Make It Monday tutorial by Erin.

It makes a die cut more substantial~almost more of a gift!

~Now I have bookmarks ready for cards~

Have a blessed day friends~enjoy this last week before Christmas!

I Wanna Be Cool

I wanna be cool next year.

I don't have to be A LOT of cool...I'll settle for a little.

Timeless Tuesday #250~Words To Inspire

got me thinking about who I want to be next year.

Well,

with three teens in the house...cool is the direction I want to go.

To me, cool means being present/updated on what my girls and their peers care about.

Because if it matters to them, I want it to matter to me too.

My Dad and I communicated and related through music when I was a teen.

He didn't "poo poo" on what we listened to ~ I think he grasped how powerful contemporary music was.

Even the littlest cool can bridge the years between my girls and I...plus, I feel God has been reminding me lately of what it FEELS like to be a teen.

The quotes in those "magic boxes"/IPODS and lyrics in popular songs reveal the age old hunt for love, acceptance, and friendships....

and the pain that ensues when they are missing.

I pray I stay cool next year~and never be "too old" to listen with my heart.

This weeks'

CASE Study Challenge #169

is Cath Edvalson~the (recently)former Trends Editor for Paper Crafts Magazine.

I can't think of a cooler lady to honor!!!

She's always SPOT ON with current hot styles and designs.

I used the peacock colors of blues and greens..exchanging the gold with kraft~

GRUNGE FUN SNOWMAN

This surprise card kept on morphing every time I fiddled with it.

By the time it was done, I stepped back with a "hmmmm, I think I like it" response.

It started off with slight edging on the focal panel~I didn't intend for it to lean SO FAR into fun grunge.

Believe it or not...that pink background started off as neon pink~but once I started shading...it became, well, another shade of pink. ;)

Maybe I'll be using my neons more often...

My fluffy snowflakes were achieved by off-stamping with Tim's Black Soot on scratch paper and giving it a twist before lifting off the cardstock.

Since the closest white I had on hand was a liquid paper pen, I scribbled with it.

I'll be using it more often since my white Uni-ball pen is precious to me and I need it for personalizing/signing dark cardstock creations.

This photo was my jumping off point...

http://theseinspiredchallenges.blogspot.com/2013/12/inspired-by99.html

I love the way snow simplifies the world to black and white...

where only bright colors stand out and are highlighted.

I mimicked the rustic feel with my traced out snowman.

BoBunny's Zip-A-Dee Doodle collection is my NEWEST favorite...esp. since it's mostly black, white, blues and greens.

I might try my hand at more grungy creations...esp. since the fuzzy snowflakes were so fun to do!

I wonder what else I could blur???

HUG A TREE

I've probably hugged more than one tree in my lifetime...

I'm sure it had something to do with Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree.

That book made me cry.

Friday: Workin' the Black and the Rose is a Burst

I had fun with this card...it's simple..but the awesome paper has so much pizazz, you just gotta fly with it.

The surprise element/shape is the burst behind the sledder...

that's a rose!

Yup, even a delicate shape can pass for something cool/masculine if it's the right color and edged in black.

Speaking of black...
