~My Heroes~My Parents~

I feel so bad.

Did you know that Sunday was Grandparents' Day?

Well, good gravy, I didn't.

I don't have a single Grandparents' sentiment either.

Do you?

If you know of a Grandparents' Day sentiment, please let me know!

This card is late...but needed to be created.

OLW #104:Gratitude Campaign-a challenge to inspire us to THANK those around us.

Bold colors and inspirational photo from

I tried to mimic the color blocking here with two blues and an orange.

Also, I kept it masculine so it's appropriate for Mom AND Dad.

~OLW 80~

(My Mind's Eye Rosy "Everything" stamps,Our Daily Bread Time,Flourishes Enjoy the Ride,Inkadinkado pigment ink sky blue,Creative Memories corner rounder,Staz On ink fuchsia,Georgia Pacific white cardstock)

I love this image of a beautiful tightrope walker.

I resisted this stamp two months ago, but picked it up today.

I don't have the guts nor the desire to walk a tightrope.

Seeing someone else do it makes me nervous too.

I have no idea why, but I find this image soothing and beautiful.

Maybe because I can imagine she is two feet off the ground. ;)

~OLW Stamp,Stamp,Stamp~

Jennifer is hosting OLW #79

Stamp, stamp, stamp with three or more stamps!

There are three different stamps here (I added the squiggle to highlight "favorite").

(I Heart Papers Mint Motif Beyond Borders,Unity Better With Love,Papertrey Ink Shape Up Snowman Accessories zig zaggy line,Memento Ink Tuxedo Black and Rosebud,Memento Rosebud dual marker,Georgia Pacific white cardstock)

Here is my second card.

(The Craft's Meow Fruity for You,Memento inks rosebud and bamboo leaves,Want2Scrap bling)

I wanted to add more color this time and play with my new stamp set from The Craft's Meow: Fruity for You!

I had my eye on it for awhile now, and was recently blessed to pick a set.

It was easy peasy to line up the pears and stamp one time.

There are 5 different stamps~the leaf was stamped twice.

Thank you for hosting this challenge, Jennifer!

Have an awesome weekend. ;)

~Grunge Burst of Color~

(Papertrey Ink Grunge Me,Staz On ink fuschia and red,Inkadinkadoo blue,Ranger Tim Holtz Mustard,Georgia Pacific white cardbase)

I get to squeeze one more card in for Papertrey Ink's 5th Anniversary Day 4!

This time I used Danielle Flanders' colors.

It took about five tries to avoid finger painting the white areas. ;)

I'm also entering this in OLW 78:Circles,Circles Everywhere.

There has to be at least 5 circles on a one layered card.
My sketch is borrowed from Card Patterns Sketch 151.

It inspired me to put my colorful Grunge burst in the corner.

Thanks for stopping by and peeking. ;)

~Man Card~

Our Craft Lounge 101 Zig Zag

and One Layer Wednesday 75

led me to this card:

(supplies:Papertrey Ink In the Meadow deer,I Heart Papers Mint Motif Beyond Borders,Papertrey Ink Game On sentiment,Staz On pumpkin,Ranger Distress ink pine needle and marmalade,Georgia Pacific 110 lb cardbase)

Now, originally my zigs were zagged so straight and true, but I smudged my fingers on the pristine white.

I figured...perfection isn't me.

I embraced the cool, stomped/ripped,nothing fits look that seems to be in now.

I didn't intend for reindeer's behind to look so textured, but I really did like it after the fact.

Here is the straight and true for those that are curious:

See? It's a bit warped on the bottom, because I viciously took a baby wipe to my Oompa-Loompa finger smudges created at the last second....arrrgh.

My orange and green combo is inspired by For Your Inspiration Challenge #22

What a gorgeous photo!  I have something prettier in the works, but I wanted to make sure and credit this challenge, because it DID choose my colors for this masculine card.

Thank you for stopping by today, it makes my day! ;)

~ALOHA OLW!~

I really love this "ALOHA" sentiment stamp I have.

It's been awhile since I used it, though.

is the perfect challenge to showcase this beauty!

Can't you just hear the drums beating and the grass skirts swishing? ;)

Versamark ink and yellow embossing powder packs a punch, I think.

 Now fo' da bradas...

I was "tinkin' of da surfas on da beach" when I ruffed up the edges and stamped da image "tree" (3) times wit 3 inks to get da wave action. ;)

OK, done with the pidgin (it only comes out when I am speaking with my family and we're messing around.)

However, since I brought the stamp out...it slips.

FYI...if you watch Hawaii Five-O...gunshots fired constantly on the streets and all the drama they show is just that...DRAMA!

I haven't lived there in awhile, but it makes me wonder what people think of Hawaii.

Please continue planning that dream vacation....it's a beautiful place.

Thanks for stopping by....ALLLLOOOOOOOHHHHHHAAAAA! ;)

JOY

Simplicity's OLW66
will bring you to your knees.

LITERALLY.

The challenge is to get inspired by blogger Janelle.

You need to click to her blog and then come back.

GO AHEAD.

I'LL WAIT.

SERIOUSLY.

IT'S THAT IMPORTANT.

If you've actually made it back, you'll see why there is nothing more to be said.

It is humbling and uplifting.

All rolled up in one Janelle.

I am honored to make a one layered card that represents what I HEAR in her words she shares with us.

Right now.

Today.

Can there be a voice any sweeter?

Bon Voyage

Flying used to be exciting for me.

After numerous moves...

and 5 hours of a rough flight through snow storms this past year...

...flying has lost its novelty.

I just want to get there.

Of course, there could be worse ways to travel.

How cute are these birds' expressions?

It took me numerous tries to get this scene.

I stamped the birds in Memento ink first (Copics bleed with my Staz on),

and then I colored them.

I found that stamping the cage with Staz On looked richer than stamping with Memento...maybe because the ink is sitting on Copic coloring.

Weird, huh?

My first few tries, I stamped the cage FIRST with Versamark (it left an almost invisible impression)..so I knew where to place the birds.

However, practice DOES make perfect, because by the oh, sixth or seventh time of doing this scene..I didn't need the imprint.

I knew where to place the birds by heart.

Hrmph.

Thanks for stopping by today, it warms my heart. ;)

So Sorry

I had this card tiptoeing in the back of my mind ever since seeing OLW53's challenge.  It calls for a new home (ooops, thought it was just home, oh well) and two colors of ink.

All I own is a doghouse die...you know....IN THE DOGHOUSE?  I used it to emboss the card and then lightly penciled it with a Prismacolor white pencil. That was what I immediately thought of.  Hopefully I won't need to use this card... :)

Thanks for peeking in....

Round, Round and Rom

Simplicity's OLW52 Round and Round motivated me to craft another graduation card!  It calls for circles and minimal embellishments. I wanted to use these birds, so I framed them with circles.

Here comes your Round and Round.

Aren't their expressions comical?

Shelby's guinea pig, Chester, carries the same quirky expression.  I just love that little guy.  My husband thinks his "human" eyes are creepy.  I think they're what make Chester.....well, CHESTER, ya know?

awwww, Chester...... :)

When I Grow Up

When I grow up, I want to be an artist.  I would love to sketch anything my imagination comes up with.  Um, it may take awhile to grow up.  However, I CAN stamp anything that comes near to what my drawings WOULD have looked like, had I the gift.  I love this look...

The sketchy, artsy style of the stamp is so beautiful, AND it balances out my dirty fingers.  In fact, smudges almost add to the free, messy interpretation of the dancer. However, it is hard to justify if the marks are too far from the image, like on the bottom of the card.  I have learned to improvise for my weaknesses (my husband calls it "smoke and mirrors" :) ). I smudge the card edges with ink.
I found a fruitful challenge. One Layer Wednesday's OLW51, is to stamp three-of-a-kind cards.  Change the ink color, cardstock color, or the sentiment, but you have to use the same stamps.  This is perfect for me...I need cards for my daughter's three ballet teachers.
