~Different Worlds & a Potter~

Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light 105 Go Green

I recycled an older atlas in my project today.

The recipient is a sweet lady at my church who always greets me with a friendly smile.

She creates BEAUTIFUL pottery, and I purchased

ODBD You are the Potter last year, with her in mind.

The "different worlds" here represent her fanned out family.

I'm not near my immediate family either, so she comes to mind in my prayers often.

Check out Inspired By #20

Can you see why I chose to cut out "globes" and add some text DP to my card?

It was the perfect jumping off point to start from.

One more thing...I was unsuccessful, at first, in sewing around the Spellbinder label.

The second time, I hand-cranked the edges.

It really helped me control those curves.

Thanks for stopping by...have a crafty Monday!

~Another CAS-ual and the Cafe~

I'm on a quilling streak, it seems. ;)

How many times before I can say "I quill"?
I am truly enjoying my gift.

 (supplies: Sticker,Piggy Tales DP,American Crafts AC cardstock,Fiskar's border punch,Marvy circle punch,quill paper)

I just noticed quarter lines in the belly of my Marvy punch.

It helped me determine a quarter of the circle to create notches in my sentiment panel.

I think these look way better than if I had just eyeballed it.

Here is the sketch again, by Laura at

My colors were inspired by

I was so excited to find this sentiment sticker that looked pretty close to the colors...it motivated me to finish this card! ;)

Thanks for stopping by today! ;)

~Like a Fork and Spoon~

I was excited to see

because it was the perfect challenge to showcase my card.

I used the sketch from the latest submission for Papercrafts...perhaps this was a little too out there. ;)

My girlies love it. ;)

This, believe it or not...is PLASTIC silverware.

I was so excited to discover it, because it looks like the real deal but doesn't weigh a ton.

PERFECT for a wacky card like this!

Hope you get the humor.;)

~An Interesting Chipboard Piece~

I've got all sorts of fun chipboard pieces that I've had for a few years.

To be perfectly honest, when I bought them, I really just wanted the bag that the goodies came in.

I wasn't into scrapbooking or cardmaking then, and I figured my daughter could "play" with those things. ;)

So glad I held on to them!

I shifted through my goods for CAS-ual Fridays CFC34
and made this.

I found this shape interesting...such a long neck!

Perfect to lasso. ;)

~Message from Afar~

There's a cool technique over at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #149.

It's called a telescoping image card.

I really enjoyed this technique, even though I had to stamp more than once.

I'm used to that now. ;)

I didn't know that, you know.

It took me years to feel "successful" at stamping, because I didn't know you needed:

1) Quality inks
2) Quality stamps
3) Practice
Whenever I stamped, I was bummed because it looked TERRIBLE.

However, I kept buying stamps here and there...hoping it would "click" one day.

I'm so glad that there are awesome blogs out there that give advice and info for all levels.

Aren't you?

What a blessing! ;)

Thank you for stopping in today.  Hope you have a little time to craft. ;)

~Red Medallion with Orange Thrown In~

Movement is difficult to capture on a card.

I tried my best to accomplish it here.

"Space, the final frontier," was in my head for some reason as I created this.

I always thought modern was so...well, modern.

It's not all that modern or new.

Look at pictures of space..spheres, discs, immense vacuums and distances.

God's creation.

Very, very cool.

~Mittens and a Story~

Once upon a time, there was an island girl who moved to the mainland.

She was used to island ways, and wasn't given a class about mainland customs and necessities (because, she WAS an American, after all).

It was never MORE evident that she lacked mainland winter skills, than when her firstborn was dressed one morning for her first winter day outside.

The puzzled island girl turned the mittens to and fro, marveling at the string that linked the two mittens.

Somehow, she KNEW they were not to be separated, but was at a LOSS as to how to apply them to her firstborn.

Her husband found his daughter with her mittens ON and her wrists "safely shackled" (like a prisoner)...since dangling strings ARE DANGEROUS for a young child.

TRUE STORY.

I won't give her name; it's really for the best.

My,...

I mean...

HER...

father said, "You can take the girl from the islands, but you can't take the island from the girl."

Not trying to give island girls a bad name mind you...

I do have some island sisters out there. ;)

Come on, I bet you have some cultural minefield stories to share-island girl or not.

*wink*

These mittens on a string should really, REALLY come with instructions for those that don't figure out these things on their own.

REALLY.

3 LITTLE SNOWMEN won't lose their mittens today.

~Amazing Kid~

My nephew has a birthday coming up.

A couple of years ago, he came to visit and went sledding for the first time.

That's craft foil behind a hole I created with a Marvy circle punch.

The silhouette is a perfect image for the little guy-hope he remembers having fun here.

It was cut from Papertrey Ink's In the Meadow die set.

Here's without the glare.

Inspiration for using stars comes from Less is More Week 39-Lucky Dip Stars.

I die cut them, sponged them with Memento sand ink and strung them on twine.

My sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Game On.

Thank you so much for stopping by. ;)

~Papertrey Ink October Blog Hop~

I've missed too many of these hops at Nichole Heady's blog and am thrilled to participate this evening.

I pulled out some awesome orange/green DP and

 did  the following:

~Punched some DP circles

~Wrapped them with Papertrey ink eyelet lace borders cut from the same DP

~Arranged them on a strip decorated with background paper made from Tim Holtz marmalade distress ink applied directly to white cardstock.

~Lined up some bling (for some semblance of order) ;)

~Then stamped a sentiment...perfect excuse to catch up with old friends...it will go in the mail soon.

Love this inspirational photo:

Hope you got a chance to participate.

There's still time. ;)

Now off to hop....thanks for stopping in. ;)

Happy Birthday Shelby! ;)

Oh, I didn't think I would get to showcase another delightful picture Shelby drew for me so SOON....but here we are!!!

Tuesday Trigger "Delightfully Random"

snagged me with the title first...because I think my Shelby's character is
DELIGHTFULLY RANDOM.

Isn't he a hoot????!!!

Shelby told me she just loves the way I colored her crab...

BLESS HER SWEET HEART. ;)

I decided to showcase him on her birthday card...yes, my

Shelby is turning 13 in a couple of days!!!!

WHERE DOES THE TIME GO???!!!

13 Things I love about my Shel:

1. Her ENORMOUS heart

2. Her sweet smile

3. Her contagious laugh

4. Her contagious cry (if her heart breaks....EVERYONE'S heart breaks)

5. Her gentle spirit

6. Her fashion sense (she can wear ANYTHING and make it look good)

7. Her dark, soulful eyes that meet with EVERYONE that crosses her path

8. Her ability to see humor in everything

9. Her gift in remembering EVERYONE'S name

10. Her patience with others

11. Her perfect hair (I know, it seems shallow...but girlfriend doesn't need a flat iron...perfect generation to be born in!)

12. Her graceful gift of dance

13. Her creative mind

I could go on and on....but I need to let you go....

Thanks for helping me celebrate Shelby! ;)

A new technique I used...

..frosted images here

It's very subtle..but I learned it at
Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday #33 Frosted Images.
There is a video to learn the technique...I need to do it again sometime..it didn't come out as frosty as I would have liked...maybe a darker paper, perhaps?

A Glimmer of Hope

I love this lamp image...I think it's so elegant.

I love this verse even more-a glimmer of hope and a reminder of Who's in charge.

I folded this Making Memories DP in half and used it as a cardbase...

I was excited to use it!

The strip of paper with the sentiment has a notch that was created with a circle punch.

My Ellison Rays Embossing folder was used on the yellow/mustard oval for texture.

I think what took the longest, was "balancing" everything.  I moved it constantly until it "looked right".

It looks right to me, anyway. ;)

Lots of Heart

I know a sweet family that owns an apple orchard.

Oh, the goodness that flows from this family and their land!!!

Yummies that their store offers ...

apple pie,apple cider,apple butter

and caramel apples!

I used a circle punch for the apple and caramel, and cut away from there to shape the dessert.

There is slit in the apple where I inserted the mini craft stick.

I tried to make the caramel as glossy as possible with Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel.

The apple got one layer and the caramel confection got three.

My daughter said she could just take a bite out of it.

I figured it had reached its realistic potential for that comment. ;)

Oh, my sweet family that encourages me everyday...what a blessing you are!

Have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping in. ;)

A Bubble Tree

I embrace non-traditional colors for Christmas, can you tell?

This card is no exception.

I'm entering JustRite's Challenge #056 shaped holiday card or tag.

I took out my Marvy 2" punch and punched some circles.

I then used my Spellbinder Classic Circles to create some "frames" for my Christmas images.
These have a touch of Ranger Glossy Accents to draw your attention to them (it's to make up for not coloring-I like the plain look on this).

I already had my papers out from my previous post.

Imagine my excitement to see ColourQ's Challenge #98.

It's like creating another meal with leftovers.

It's so much sweeter for the cook. ;)

Thank you for stopping by today. ;)
