~LIM Let's Build a Snowman~

I love this stamp my sister sent me from Hawaii.

I think it's such an original snowman.

Coloring outside the lines gives an artsy feel to these cutie pies. ;)

Aren't they sweet?

I am entering this week at Wee Memories #79.

I strived for one layer to make the ladies proud at

~Merii Kurisumasu~

Another NEW ADORABLE stamp to play with...

great opportunity to brush up on my Japanese Katakana.

I went to Japanese school (an hour after grade school) and followed up in High school.
I'm no expert, but I do want to share that there is a special alphabet, Katakana, which is used for English words said with a Japanese pronunciation.

Hence the special "Merii Kurisumasu" (meh ree kuu ree suu mah suu)...

or "Merry Christmas" as you know it. ;)

The "r"s are not pronounced "rrrrrr" but more like a "lllllllrrr" with a roll of the tongue.

It took forever to get that sound to come out of my mouth.

Believe me, I was corrected NUMEROUS times...

"MARINA-SAN, say it again....LLLLLRRRAAAA"

(Marina-san)...."rrraaa"

"ee-eh, (no)

...LLLLLRRRRAAAA".

No worries, I got it (it's embarrassing to twist your tongue and get it to cooperate in front of a room full of children)

It stuck. ;)

Inspiration from Textured to Perfection Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Texture's there

with my Spellbinder stacked embossed circles creating lift in the background;

the bendy tree all bendy;

and the crumpled tissue (polka dot green) from
my blog candy win from Jaclyn Miller's blog (just had to credit her generosity one more time).

I also added a layer of stiff felt for the snow with scribbles of, well,
SCRIBBLES that are glittery by Duncan.

My colors are lended from Color Throwdown #164.

Thank you for stopping in today, it's always a pleasure when you visit. ;)

Girlfriend Rocks!

Remember Mulan?

Mulan ROCKS as far as I am concerned.

I love when a character has CHARACTER, ya know?

It was the first theater movie I took my oldest to.

I wanted her to see a strong princess.

HOW CUTE IS GIRLFRIEND???

My sister bought her for me and sent it ASAP.

SISTER ROCKS TOO. ;)

Miyono (girlfriend) is stamped in Memento ink and colored with Copics.

I fussy cut the paper lanterns from the DP and stamped background elements with PAINT..yes, paint!

There are two peeled back strips that were cut with fringe scissors and knotted up to mimic the sketch.

I had to color the back of those strips with aqua mint to stick with the color scheme.

The card base is scored to mimic the lanterns.

Challenges that inspired this creation:

Stamping with Acrylic Paint

~I stamped Grunge Me with Anita's Dusty Green Acrylic Paint and even swiped some "extra" on the edges.  Originally the sentiment was stamped in paint (but it wasn't legible)...so I swiped paint over it and stamped with ink instead.
