Heart Cinnamon Ornaments

Christmas is sneaking up on me, just like it did you, I'm sure.

It's the season my family likes to create these cinnamon ornaments, and I've decided to look ahead to other seasons to create for (these take at least five days to flip over and dry).

 I love the scent.

Here's

some hearts for Valentines day! ;)

Printed recipe and Ranger Tim Holtz Deckle Edge Trimmer

If you are interested in this cinnamon ornament recipe, here you go!

Cinnamon Ornament Recipe

Ingredients (yields 5-6 ornaments)

-1 Cup Ground Cinnamon

-1 tsp Nutmeg

-1 tsp Cloves

-3/4 Cup unsweetened applesauce

-2 TBS Tacky Glue (I use Aleene's Original Craft glue)

-Cookie Cutters

Directions

Combine the spices with applesauce. Add glue and knead well with hands until mixture forms stiff dough. Dust the surface lightly with cinnamon and roll out the dough 1/4" thick. Cut the dough with cookie cutters and lay out on a sheet of waxed paper.  Gently poke a hole in each with a straw. Leave in a safe place to dry for about a week, flipping the ornament multiple times each day to evenly dry.  When dry, decorate with paint and/or glitter and attach a ribbon. You can store finished ornament in a plastic bag and reuse it each year.

You will know when it's time to flip the ornament each day, when you see that one side is dry (do it at least twice a day).

When you don't see a wet spot (after flipping it for at least four days), you might be done with drying (although I'd give it five days).

Snowflake Packaging

I've used the technique I found of Chipboard Accents (since 2011) that were demonstrated here

for many years.

You just need recycled cereal boxes, or thin chipboard.

I backed both sides of the chipboard with Mirrored Cardstock, and added a computer printed sentiment to personalize.

Pretty Pink Posh Snowflake Shaker, MFT Wonky Stitched Circle, Printed Sentiment, Tonic Studios Mirrored Cardstock

I added a handy clip to the manufactured pillow boxes of candy, and secured them to fun seasonal tongs found at Hobby Lobby.

There were fun little ornaments I found at Michaels, and I liked the bling they added to the 18 practical gifts.

Done and done and sharing to the following challenges:

Pet Loving Packaging

We are down to the wire here in the McDeavitt house, and I'm doing what I can. ;)

This was my latest packaging, which I had so much fun designing!!!

Cup Label: MFT Wonky Stitched Circles, The Paper Studio Festive Cats & Dogs, Tonic Studios Mirror Cardstock
Bag Label: The Stamp Market Pet Collar and Computer printed text
Other: Celebrate It Bow Maker

The bows are particularly special, because I finally invested in a Bow Maker.

I've talked myself out of it for 30 years plusssssss.

I'm sick of having meh bows, so I let myself go for it.

They aren't expensive (as far as craft tools go)...and I admit the "extra hands" were worth it.

As for the tags and labels, what a blast!

I purchased a stack of quality cups (they change color and come with lids and straw) and filled them with candy.

I used some of my fave circle dies and layered with white cardstock, patterned paper (clearance find at Hobby Lobby) and Tonic Studios Mirrored Cardstock for the smallest framing circle.

I wanted them to temporarily stay in place, so I used a tube of E600 Extreme Tack (Repositional) glue and added a line of dots on the undersides (dots have to dry for 8 hours).

You have to let the dots dry AND ONLY THEN do you flip it over all pretty and tack it down to the project.

Simon Says (Monday): It's a Wrap

Simon Says (Wednesday): Gifts

The other labels I created were the dog collars (my gosh, they fit a bag handle LIKE BUTTER).

I typed on Word, and cut the collars out with collar dies.

Beyond my little touches...candy and banana bread are in the gift bag and ready to be delivered!!!

DT INkspirational Use Stencils

Papertrey Ink Words of Comfort sentiment, Hero Arts Color Layering Bold Flowers

It's time for a new challenge at INkspirational!

Our newest prompt is Use Stencils, so I tried out this layered stencil I've had for almost a year.

I went with colors that were more in season for this time of the year.

Unfortunately, it had to be sent (sympathy cards are always emotionally heavy for me...as I'm sure you can relate!).

I am grateful for this crafting community, in that inspiration helps me create even for the most difficult seasons.

Thank you for always being kind and supportive, my crafty friends!

Please join us at the challenge and see what the creative team came up with!

DT INkspirational Mood Board

Colorado Stamps Big & Bold Daisy and Dahlia, Honey Bee Stamps Slimline Blanket Sentiment dies, Brutus Monroe Mic Drop Embossing Powder/Ultra Fine Raven Embossing Powder, Erin Lee Creative Glossy Black Paper, Tonic Studios Tim Holtz Deckle Torn Edge Trimmer

It's time for a new challenge at INkspirational!

This time it's a lovely monochrome mood board.

We had a black dress wedding to attend, so I created a simple sparkly.

The top half stamped panel is embossed with Brutus Monroe MicDrop.

The bottom edge was embossed with Brutus Monroe ultra fine Raven.

I then swooshed Black Soot distress ink over part of the stamped panel, which gives an illusion of tulle covering a section (without the bulky material).

When I rarely use a bow, I punch two holes in the panel so I don't have to wrap completely around the card.

I didn't go with stars...but flowers can have the same effect when you keep it dramatic and uncolored!

Please visit my talented team mates and join us with your unique creation; we would love to see what you came up with!

Wedding Window

I was requested a wedding card, so I wanted as neat and tidy a presentation as possible.

Pretty Pink Posh Mini Storybook 1, The Ton Autumn Foliage, Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Anniversary Innies, My Favorite Things Picture Window Die-namics

I don't think I've used Pretty Pink Posh's Mini Storybook1 as a window before.

I had some window pane die cuts done to fit within the squares.

Time Out Challenges has me thinking of what makes me cozy....frankly when I close the drapes; I'm as cozy as I can be in my little world.

Enjoy the Simple Things In House Craft

I had the pleasure of walking in to the Brutus Monroe store in time to do an in house craft with Heather. ;)

She's so sweet and welcoming!

God put me at the right day and time for her event, and look what I created!

Brutus Monroe Sunny Salutations/Retro Rainbow Patterned Paper/Chroma Mist (painted and dabbed for color)

I told her not to tell on me, but I'll tell on myself-ha!!

She fussy cut those flowers (there were dies on the table, but my flowers were wet from painting with Chroma Mist).

She could see my hesitation and offered to do them for me (fussy cutting is clearly her gift!!).

When I got home, I finished the inside with items from my stash.

It's going to a friend who has been on my heart.

Sizzix Tim Holtz Colorize Road Trip, Whimsy Stamps Jungle Frames, Fancy Pants Beachside Boardwalk Paper, Sassy & Crafty (no longer in business) We Are Family sentiment (stamped on Vellum)
Dad
Fancy Pants Beachside Boardwalk Paper, Carta Bella Paper Cowboys

This was created for my Dad. ;)

It's personal and I found myself emotional as I created it.

Old time images had me seeing his world through childlike eyes; he has the greatest stories from when he was young.

This is my DT sample for Carol's INkspirational's prompt Layer It~

Outside and inside are mostly layered patterned papers and dies (vellum layer with the sentiment behind the car).

We do hope you join us with your unique Layer It creation!

Hero Arts Wooden Block Cupcake

Hero Arts Cupcake Stand and Safari sentiment, Square die, Pretty Pink Posh Wonky Stitched Square, Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Embossing folder

I was driven to stick with Sunday Stamps' latest colors and wooden stamps for this creation.

Lots of my Copics needed refilling, and it looks like I had the ones I needed, which is a win!

Amy's Woodblock Wednesday keeps me gathering wooden stamps anywhere I see them on sale or at thrifts ;).

Time Out had me inking up this cupcake stand!

Sentiment was chosen for Hero Art's latest challenge:

Can You DIG it

Love a good pun and cute images like my dude here Dudley:

Whimsy Stamps Disco Dude Dudley and Revealers 2 dies

My daughter's fiancé is into dinos, so I think he will find this funny. ;)

I know I do!

Oh how I've wanted to snag one of the revealer dies from Whimsy Stamps...YAY!!!

I've seen a sample on their site using it with a disco silhouette and it works for good ole Dudley too!

Totally picked my colors from this lovely challenge:

These challenges apply too:

Killin' It Boss Lady

Pretty Pink Posh Sentiment Strip, Papertrey Ink Market Street Paper, Hampton Art Rongron (planner set sentiment, tribe set image, Boss goals sentiment), Copics, Brutus Monroe Raven ink, Pink and Main Sweater Weather patterned paper (retired pack)

I saw the Color Hues Challenge of olive and mustard and picked up the minimal same colors in Papertrey Ink's Market Street.

This city gal from Hampton Art Rongron fits the scale of the scene, so it was perfect for what I had in mind.

My middle daughter has been growing in her esthetician field, and I wanted to honor her bold strides.

If you own this paper, you'll know it's a little bumpy to stamp on, but Brutus Monroe's Raven ink sat so still on it (I used my stamp positioner to give it a few taps).

A light shade of Copics finished it off.

I set behind it a mustard pattern from Pink and Main that's retired (Sweater Weather).

Thank you for your sweet visit!

You Are So Worth Bonsai Tree

Hero Arts Bonsai Fancy Die, My Favorite Things Stamps Anything but Basic, Whimsy Stamps Jungle Frames, Pretty Pink Posh sentiment strips

I know that bonsai trees may not be your typical fall tree, but set in fall colors is passable as a handsome presentation.

Check out the mustard and grey backdrop of the following middle panel of this mood board.

DT INkspirational Seasonal

Concord & 9th Winter Wonderland, Spellbinders Holiday Sentiments Series 2 Glimmer Plate, My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circles/Stitched Oval Word Window, circle dies, Avery Elle Double Stitched Rectangles

It's time for a new challenge at INk!

This time the prompt is Seasonal~

Love this lil' nutcracker from Concord & 9th (it's the original smaller one).

The shiny shinies all matched together from my leftover stash (one being the glimmer plate sentiments from Spellbinders).

Today me, is grateful for yesterday me (the one who sat and assembled multiple tiny nutcrackers and churned out glimmer plate sentiments).

Thank you for visiting me today (take a look at what the talented team came up with too) ; please join us at INkspirational with your unique work!

Y'all It's Fall Distress Ink Background

The Ton Autumn Foliage, Picket Fence Studios Fancy Autumn Sentiments stamp and die, Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Poppy Stamps tree trunk, Avery Elle Double Pierced Rectangles

I spent the free hours I had one day to make multiple distress ink backgrounds (blended within a background die and water spritzed).

Oh what fun!

That investment paid off, because I can pull from that stash to finish a creation.

The autumn leaves are layered stamps from The Ton (I like to stamp multiple colors in one sitting) and sentiment is from a fancy sentiment set from Picket Fence Studios.

A couple of fun challenges going on right now:

Not only the obvious leaves, but I love the misted water on the umbrella and bokeh vibe (the blended background has been spritzed with water for a mottled effect).

World Card Making Movie Theater Box Christmas

Oh how fun it was to assemble this card for my movie pal daughter. ;)

We've seen so many together, I HAD to make her a card like this.

My Favorite Things Mini Slimline Outside the Box/Movie Munchies/Movie Night/At the Movies/Heads Up, Spellbinders Holiday Sentiments 2 Glimmer Plate, Brutus Monroe Cardstock

Here's the back:

My Favorite Things Concession Stand Basics/Concession Stand/Concession Signage, Picket Fence Studios A Gnome Winter sentiment

If you look at the right hand side of the concession stand...you'll see a fun winter sentiment. ;)

Back to the front...

There are our likenesses, and yes, she likes to sit RIGHT UP there most times. ;)

You know what?

I'm grateful for the company, so I just lean that seat WAY WAY BACK. ;)

I accidently found out that one specific theater has HEATED seats (I thought I had peed myself when I accidently bumped the button and felt warmth rising...ha ha ha)
yikes!!!

It's one of my fave theaters now, and I look for that long red heat button on the movie seat and leannn back. ;)

Their chicken tenders aren't terrible either.
