Dream On Grad Card

As I cleared my craft desk off, I was able to assemble a collage of remnant die cuts~

 I heat embossed the sentiment on "driftwood" months ago, but it didn't quite fit the look of my card.

It's been sitting on my desk for awhile~glad I kept it, because

it fits this ensemble well.

Toucan Do It

For this month's Uniko photo challenge...I dropped orange,green and blues on to this special paper.

I wanted the background inks to be the star of this tropical summer card.

The leaves were stamped dark and he's stamped on acetate with Staz On black.

 I stamped him again on paper, copic colored and fussy cut his body without a beak.

 I even dolled up the inside ~using the last scrap of inked Yupo.

 I thought the platform would serve as a terrific base.

It's already got above and below going on, right?

Stamp twice...offset a smidge to get two colors in there and add depth.

It's beginning to feel like summer...so palm prints are in season!!!

The gold sentiment is cut from Avery Elle's Stay Fresh.

If I can't go to Hawaii this year...Hawaii can come to me. ;)

 I versamarked and emboss powdered the edges for a gilded look.

 
 

Since my weekend was so jam packed...it took me awhile to get on board with the weekdays.

Let's just say today feels like my Monday, but at least I've caught up! :)

Water You Up To

In the midst of my youngest girlie's prom prepping...

I had a chance to run into a Michaels.

 She was getting her hair done at a friend's house, and they have a cat.

My allergies are through the roof (normally cats do me in), so I had a good excuse to kill time at a craft store. :)

That's my story friends...and I'm sticking to it.

 My usual go-to excuse is to use Michaels', Joann's..any craft store's bathroom. :)

I mean, I just need to meander through a craft store now and again, you know (and practically, take a potty break).

 Anyhoo...this Pool-Riffic set.

 So fun.

  (fyi...it needed several inkings but my Misti does the trick).

 

 I matched it with an Aloha die from Avery Elle.

This not so simple CAS card was inspired by these colors:

and arranged with this special technique:

If you don't know what it is (I had to google it myself)...it's like a camouflaged/pop-up sentiment.

I stacked a couple of navy aloha cuts under the main layer...including the tiny excess pieces.

It's a complicated CAS, but I like the effect.

Nautical Inspiration

So this photo/sketch was on my mind when I perused a local scrapbook store.

Is it no wonder I brought this lovely "color me!" stamp home?

I was determined not to be intimidated by her size...refusing to back away from "What if I screw up her outfit after all this coloring???" nonsense.

I figured if I started with her hair and skin, I could paper piece the outfit if need be.

 It didn't come to that, but I had to explain myself when asked "What are you doing?" and I answered with "coloring".

ha!

The looks on their faces!! ;)

anyhoo...it was a stretch for me, yet very relaxing~yay!!!
