Word Art Wednesday July 4

Happy Fourth of July!!!

This is my first week of being a guest designer at

I am blessed to have this opportunity to be featured with the gifted designers there.

Join us and pick up the powerful verse that is offered free to you!

This verse is very personal to me.

There are times I've gotten caught up in challenges lost or submissions rejected in bloggy world...and the Lord whispers this verse to me.

Ahhhhh, I did it again, I realize.

I've put other endeavors before the Lord and filled my heart with them!

Yikers, I hate to admit how many times I've done that!!!

Today as we celebrate our freedom as a country...

may we also remember the ultimate freedom Jesus gives us when we allow Him to work in our hearts.

All disappointments and failures...even successes...pale in comparison to Him and His sacrifice on the cross.

May we give Him our ALL.

Have a blessed day.

I know a lot of golfers.

You'll probably see me using this set often.

I cut out sections of the Tim Holtz rays embossing folder to allow the cardbase color to shine through.

~The Play Date Cafe and a CardPatterns Sketch~

Babies are sprouting all around me and I'm behind.

This came out to be a surprise for me-Yayyy!

(Ellison Oh,Baby!,Papertrey Ink Fruit Fusion apple stamp,The Craft's Meow Tweet of You,Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses paper pad,Inkadinkado pigment ink sky blue,Ranger Tim Holtz distress ink marmalade ink,Bazzil cardstock,Creative Memories corner rounder)

By the time I tucked in those ribbons, I saw a baby card forming.

All it took was the sentiment to seal the deal.

I used colors from The Play Date Cafe PDCC 120.

CardPatterns Sketch 154

I enjoyed putting this card together. ;)

I can't wait to stick it in the mail.

~CAS Winter Blues~

(Unity Happiness Is,Unity Shut the Front Door,Memento Ink rich cocoa,MS twine,Ellison Thin Cuts Happy Birthday balloons,Bazzill cardstock)

The Unity Opportunity Challenge is to go CAS!

Cure for the Winter Blues Challenge in the Moxie Fab World inspired me to use this scrap of navy blue.

I love the way it looks with white and brown accents-clean and crisp.

This is my "faux" sidestep card.

Instead of one card cut and scored for multi-levels,

a blue cardbase strip was attached to a white cardbase strip to give the allusion of a multi-step card.

It's a great way to use those scraps!

Less Is More Week 56:Don't Scrap It

In addition to cardbase scraps, I used balloons that were left over from a previous project.

Thank you for stopping by today! ;)

~Tiny Flowers-Many Prayers~

I was SO BLESSED to receive Flourishes' new releases this month.

I wanted to make sure and jump RIGHT in with these gorgeous stamps.

Here is a CAS creation I made.

(Flourishes Tiny Flowers and Tags,Flourishes Calla Lilies,October Afternoon Sidewalks DP,Brilliance red ink,Scor-Tape 1/4",Memento lady bug and bamboo leaves markers,MS border punch,Memento ink angel pink to brush the edges,Georgia Pacific white cardstock,Ellison Thin Cuts handbag #3 die)

I incorporated a bit of red by using the Tiny Flowers and Tags to decorate my purse.

The beautiful sentiment is from Calla Lilies.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #156.

I am also submitting this to

CAS-ual Fridays CFC #40

I looped some thin ribbon as an added "something" to the purse. It's secured with Scor-tape.

The ruffle is also secured with Scor-Tape.

I was inspired by

~CAS PTI 5th Anniversary Day 7~

The party is still rockin' at Papertrey Ink's 5th Anniversary.

This is the 7th Day, and the challenge is to incorporate hearts.

(Papertrey Ink In the Meadow dies (partial tree die for grass),Papertrey Ink Game On,Ellison Tipsy Heart for the template,Ranger Tim Holtz marmalade ink,Making Memories Just Chillin' DP,American Crafts AC cardstock,Georgia Pacific white)

I just love the deer dies from PTI's In the Meadow.

I stumbled upon the first partial DP deer when I was cutting out snowmen and thought, "That looks cool!"

The curvy cuts look so much better than just slicing it in bits, so I had to work to replicate the "mistake" with a partial circle punch in the second deer.

I sponged distress ink for the heart frame.

I am also entering this in CAS-ual Fridays CFC39.

Since I playing with die cuts, I am also submitting this to

Moxie Fab's Cool Tools Week:DIE CUTTING CHALLENGE.

Thanks for stopping in. Hope you're having a fun weekend. ;)

~LIM Week 54 Striped Hearts~

This week at Less Is More, Chrissie and Mandi are challenging us to use
STRIPES on a one-layer card.

I used my Ellison Tipsy Hearts die and used the negative to mask off my JustRite rectangle stamper.

(Sentiment: Basic Grey Tranquil,JustRite stamper,Ellison Tipsy Hearts Die,Memento Ink tuxedo and rose bud,Georgia Pacific white cardstock)

I then shaded the edges with the opposing inks.

There are some awesome entries so far...check out the amazing creations!

~Throwdown Colors and A Sled~

Boy oh boy, is this boy having fun! ;)

I needed a quick card and this did it for me. ;)

The silhouette is multicolored, because I die cut him out of an instant Cider box.

Aren't these colors AWESOME???

I think they coordinate well with Color Throwdown #171
don't you?

Stoooooory tiiiiiiime....

The first time I ever went sledding, I was a young woman.

Since I was born and raised in Hawaii...I DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE how to sled.

I thought you just hopped on, held on and laughed the whole way down.

That's how they do it in the movies!!!

Apparently it takes some form of skill.

My husband (fiancee at the time) and I doubled up for a "trial run" back in '89.

Boy was that fun!

I screamed, I laughed, I had a BLAST.

There was a sharp turn at the end of a huge hill, which seemed so easy when HE did the steering-and frankly, I barely remember it.

I believe it was important.

I DO remember him being all serious when he asked, "Are you ready to do this ALONE?"

"SURE!" I enthusiastically shouted, "Why NOT!!!?".

Long story short....I didn't LEAN IN heavy enough when I went solo.

He still pokes fun at me TO THIS DAY....mimicking my quivering voice that drifted from the bottom of the hill.

 "D-a-a-n"

"D-a-a-a-an"

"Daaa----aaaaaan"

Story goes he had to EXTRACT me from deep within a thorny bush...

  place me on a sled

and drag me back to his parents' house.

I pouted the whole way home.

whatever

~No People Like Snowpeople~

I LOVE SNOWPEOPLE.

I USED to say "I love snowmen".

But then, I met her.

She's modeled after my Great-Aunt Grace who is 93!

Actually, Aunt Grace doesn't wear glasses...but I couldn't resist stamping these for her (Lawn Fawn Clear to See).

This 3D decoration shouldn't take up too much space in my aunt's room.

I used Papertrey Ink's Shape-Up Series Snowman Die and stamps.(oooh, I just caught that.)

I should write to them about changing it to snowpeople...

WINK. ;)

She's anchored to a Papertrey Ink coaster that's been decorated with DP (sanded on the edges to keep it from flipping up).

I wanted Aunt Grace to see that spool.

She would appreciate that I recycled that.

She spent MANY volunteer HOURS crafting gifts and delivering flowers to a local hospital (years back when she could).

Here's a shot of the other side.

I gave the tree a little depth with two sides.

I stamped snowflake "decorations" on the DP part of the tree.

My colors were inspired by Embellish Magazine's Die Cuts Color Trend.

Thank you for peeking in today. ;)

Burnt Henna.

The color intrigues me.

ALMOST orange, but definitely not brown or red.

The "ruffle" on this card is the color.

See the Burnt Henna sandwiched between the olives and yellows?

Who could deny all that gorgeous wood texture...I used it for the olive layer.  It was created by a Sizzix/Tim Holtz embossing folder.

My Heart's With You

There are many who are walking around without their heart.

It's in Heaven with their soul mate...

or traveling in far places like Afghanistan or Iraq.

No matter where their loved one is,

there you will find their heart.

I lived about 1/2 of my 19 years of marriage without my heart. ;(

It's not easy to do.

3 Loops and a Throwdown Thank You

Lawn Fawn blog is having a

Make a thank you card using Lawn Fawn stamps and send it by Oct. 5.

I used Lawn Fawn's Bon Voyage to make the flowers (clouds on their sides),stems, and leaves (swirls).

The sentiment was complimentary from Lawn Fawn (thank you!).

I also used the dotted lines to create an abstract background.

The loops are inspired by CAS-ual Friday's CFC#22

One thing I like to do now and again...is make either the back or front of a card smaller.  Last time the back was smaller, this time it's the front.

Just a little bit smaller.

You can also see the flowers closer.  I used my Memento markers and Copic markers to color them in, and then I stamped again a little off to the side.

My colors were inspired by Color Throwdown #161.

As for who I am thanking...I will hand-deliver this to my neighbor.

If I put it in an envelope...the loopies might go flat and not be as fun.

I made her gift here, but needed a card to go with it....so now I can deliver the goods (nice to have a deadline...the 5th!).

There's still time for you to make a thank you card and send it! ;)

THANK YOU for stopping in today. ;)

~All Girl~

I love pink and brown together.

It's so cool how the ribbon border mimics the flower I made with my Memento ink teardrop.

I didn't plan that!

The center is stamped with a BoBunny Barefoot and Bliss circle stamp.

I dotted "stitches" for each petal.

Sweet Baby and a Pinwheel

I have very few baby stamps...

which is no biggie..except when I want to make a baby card!

I am thrilled a bitty 4"X4" baby card got done today.

I stamped half of this basket stamp, and colored it in with a Memento marker.

Then I stamped the sentiment in the frame, colored and cut it.

I attached it to the basket with thread.

The "blanket" was made with Misc. quilt stamps (there isn't a label on them...) and colored in.

I ran it through my Corrugator horizontally and vertically to make it soft, like fabric, and cut it in half.

Both sides were "rolled" to create a sandwich.

I inserted the cute little pinwheel...but it isn't glued in.

It can be positioned to the left or right.

Wouldn't these make cute place cards for a baby shower?

A couple of challenges that I was aiming for....

just add baby...

and my second submission for

Thank you for stopping in...take care now. ;)

A Throwdown Case-A-Diva Card

Verve Stamps' September Diva Dare challenges you to Case-a-Diva
(fancy talk for copy).

I chose Sankari Wegman to case.

Every time I go on a Verve hop and land on her blog...I literally gasp.

My eyeballs POP when I see what she does with color

AND bling.

WOWZERS.

It's like she's working with a special rainbow or shade of colors.

She's like the Color Whisperer. ;)

My card is not as magnificent as her work,

but my heart was in the right place.. ;)

helped me get started.

See my baby attempts at quilling???

Note it's quilling with a little "q". ;)

 Gotta start somewhere,right?
