Putting On the Ritz at Pals Paper Arts 123.

Just the event to showcase this one of a kind pink velvet ribbon!!!

I was thinking of my three daughters when I made this card.

It's for my oldest to display in her black and pink room.

She is ALL GLAMOUR, that girl, and I could gush all day about her.

sniff.

Not only is she beautiful, but she is poised and has a heart of gold.

Before I get all weepy, I'll just leave it at that.  

I can't afford a good cry today...it stirs up my allergies and THERE'S NO TIME for that with all the events lined up this week.

~Shiny, Shiny, Mirrored Paper~

Ooooooh, this paper is PRETTYYYYYYY....but very difficult to photograph.

It's like trying to capture a mirror!

I wouldn't dare stamp on this shimmery copper paper.

The DP has beautiful flowers.

I didn't want to cut through it!

The DCWV floral paper looks like copper in the photo, but it's lighter...like a metallic orange (the gridded paper is the same shimmery color-it's from the DCWV paper pack also).

 I was able to use my "Sizzix phrase" embossing folder I've had for a few years.

It was less than a dollar from the Sizzix online outlet.

I added paper curls (my new thing...can you tell???). ;)

Color inspiration is from the Play Date Cafe PDCC108.

The sketch is inspired by CardPatterns Sketch 143.

Pals Paper Arts 121:Elements of Style Pearls

inspired me to embellish with pearls. 

I used a Sharpie to color some off-white pearls with the closest I had to maroon.

~Sentiment Background and a Good Book~

I got to combine some challenges to create today's card.

 There are some lightly stamped sentiments to create a background, inspired by Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #42 Layered Background With Sentiment Stamps.

That's the recipe for Pals Paper Arts 106 Dress for Success.

I partially used a Marvy circle punch for the borders down the center and

the window for the sentiment.

 I thought about my girls when making this card. 

Lately, creating cards has been such a wonderful outlet for me.  

It's also been a way to LIVE OUT a message.....

God made you unique.  

Embrace that!!!

That's so much easier said than done, isn't it? 

We want to STAND OUT....but at the same time....

  FIT IN. 

It's not as easy for kids.

They don't always fit in.

 Most of the time their social environment is dictated to them...

not like we grownups who can go and come as we please.

Every time I make a UNIQUE card...and take risks....

I show them that I truly believe that being unique is a GOOD THING.

I pray they hear that, anyway. ;)

PPA's Gorgeous Colors and A Christmas Card

I wanted to use Pals Paper Art's Colors, and get in before the deadline!

 I know, I know, I can make it anytime...

but it's fun to race the clock. 

That way I know I'll get it done.

I believe there are 16 hours left. ;)

I had seen this color combo on bedding and thought it would be fun to try.

I think this is my favorite color combo yet.

I matched the colors as close as I could.

I'm super excited that I got another Christmas card done.

I made this card for my mom. 

She LOVES fall!

Peaceful Summer Living

  PalsPaperArts 102 has a cool title for their challenge.




"Summertime and the Livin' is Easy".


The title alone is inspirational. 


Here is my card.

based on this gorgeous photo...






I loved the colors in this photo, and the slats of wood. 


I used my Scor-Pal to make tiles, like in a bathroom.


I was inspired by Leanne's site, which was where I first saw this look.

Running my memento ink over the tiles, I then embossed it with my Sizzix shells embossing folder for a subtle texture.


The strip across the center was decorated with tissue pieces cut from my Papertrey eyelet lace border die.



I figured this sentiment from JustRite's Simple Blessings was perfect for this card.

Patriotic Christmas

   I created a Christmas card with patriotic colors today.

I used my favorite technique...Scoring and bending for dimension.  

I don't always do it...but when I fit it in a card, that card feels extra fancy to me. ;)

Colour Q #91 has some patriotic colors to follow Plus a couple of extra ones.

Stars, a Sketch, and Patriotic Colors

  My friend's birthday is the Fourth of July.  How fun is that?! 

She has the awesome personality to match that day too...she's like a party waiting to happen.;)  

 I shall be a good friend this year and send her a card:

   I am new to stamping and coloring...but it wasn't hard to color the chipboard button and simple white ribbon with a grey Copic marker. The ribbon became a little stiff after coloring, but I like that!  It was easier to handle and lay flat.

I colored the red stars with a Memento marker.  I used an Innovative Stamp Creations stamp for the background (I hardly have any grey cardstock).

There are 3 challenges that got me headed in the right direction to make this fun card:

Random Happenings

   There are a couple of challenges which have inspired me and made me examine myself...

Papertrey's MIM #18 challenges you to add texture with tissue paper...great idea when using bright paper like I have used.

Pals Paper Arts #97 calls for you to showcase your signature style.

UMMMM, I don't really have a style that I am aware of...except for the predictability of being unpredictable.  ;) 

Another word for it: RANDOM.  That shall be my style...

...RANDOM HAPPENINGS!

Faithfulness, First Father's Day, and Final Stained Glass

     My brother-in-law will be celebrating his first Father's Day this month.  Lucky for him ;), I had challenges which motivated me to make him a card.

     Stamping in Time SNTODBD36's challenge is to use your favorite Our Daily Bread Stamp!  This is the SECOND STAMP I had to have from ODBD: Keep My Lamp Burning.

I am also entering it in Papertrey Ink's MIM #17 (told you I love that cracked glass technique... this is my final card doing that in case you are sick of me ;)).

     CAS-ual Friday's Bring on the Bling

 gave me an opportunity to showcase that baby bling from  Want2Scrap.  I mentioned in my last post that they had gifted me with goodies since I won their blog hop....what a blessing!

  Pals Paper Arts sketch gave me a goal to reach....

Here is my card:

It also meets the requirements of Mark's Finest Papers monochromatic blues.  This stamp from ISC  is a classic, and one of my favorites.  All the stamps are from that set.  The sentiment is from the Best Occasions Vellum Quote Pack.
