Mixed Media-ish

I love the freestyle look of mixed media and journaling...but I'm not ready to bring out the paints and get messy.

I can still get the look by grunging with a background like the mesh from Market Street stamps.

I laid down misc paper scraps and stamped over them.

I did the same technique here, but with border stamps.

You still get a "template" look, but without the template and paints.

I criss-crossed with pink and purple backgrounds for the color challenge at

Create Cards Blog Challenge:March 2013.

CASE Study Challenge #132
Julie Ebersole

Her beautiful card reminded me of how much I love SPLATTERS!

Dabbing from Copic and Memento pens can look like splattered paint.

I was determined to participate~if only to have a great reason to splatter~or rather, DAB! ;)

I also used the negative image for

STAY FOCUSED

Many times I've lost sight of why I do this.

"This" can be anything from challenges and my blog to homeschooling, parenting, and socializing.

These are the activities and movements that make me, ME, right now.

I get distracted by the common "carrots" of greed, ego,fear...YOU NAME IT...
and lose focus on what gives my life...LIFE.

That's when I need to zoom in on the ONE love that keeps me grounded~

for me, it's Jesus.

1 Corinthians 16:13 is the verse I stamped in this card.

Sometimes it isn't so much about WHAT I'm doing or not doing...but what I'm  VIEWING IN MY LENS while I'm doing it (or not doing it).

I created this card for someone else...but it might as well be given to ME.

The Camera Craze Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

had me thinking about what I view in my lens, and it

inspired me to use the cute camera from Amy Tangerine, that I HAD TO HAVE.

I don't remember when I last inked it, but I brought it out for the challenge:

Simon Says Stamp and Show: the Stamp You Love (but Don't Use).

Thanks for stopping by today~ ;)

The Spellbinders Label is a scrap piece I stamped on...the rest were added to finish the card.

~Waltzingmouse Sketch and the Q~

My husband's birthday is coming up.

I ordered this sentiment awhile ago, because it TOUCHED MY HEART when I first read it.

AWWWW, right?

I used two fun borders from Heirloom Patterns.

The colors are from the

Hubby LOVES ORANGE...so I made sure there were lots of orangy pops.

I only had slivers of the green~enough to cut the top and bottom of the tag for a stacked feel.

The wee bittiest bit of pink (my husband already has three girls and a froufrou doggy... gotta take it easy ya know). ;)

The poppy is in the flower and highlight.

Simon Says Stamp and Show:What Do You Say?

~Stamp-A-Faire Tie-Dye Techniques~

Stamp-A-Faire Tie-Dye Techniques

I utilized Jessica Witty's technique for the Camp Card Set Challenge to get the raised snowman here.

As for his cool coloring...

I used Nichole's Copic Tie-Dye Technique to get that effect.

I actually had a hard time sleeping last night...because I was dreaming of myself making this...LOL.

Thinking creatively before bed is not a good idea...I should have just gotten up,created, and went back to bed!

The snowman was embossed from the flat side...just like Jessica taught ;) ...except I am showcasing the outie look.

I had so much fun with the Tie Dye technique~I'd like to play with that more.

Stamp-A-Faire Tie-Dye Techniques

I am also entering this at Inspired By #33

Check out that wonderful blue/yellow oar!

My snowman likes those colors~ ;)

~LIM and the Q~

Less Is More Week 76:One Layer 3

Three of anything that is, three colours, three images, three stamps, three words, the number three.... it's up to you, but don't forget the white space, a simple design and just one layer!

It took many, many, many attempts to get these ladies lined up
(the middle one dipped).

I enjoyed it...very therapeutic! ;)

I felt like something was needed under the sentiment, so I drew a line with 3 little squiggles. ;)

I matched up the Unity Itty Bitty Share Your Smile with 3 leaves from Waltzingmouse's Teeny Trees.

My colors were inspired by the

~We Bought a Zoo~

DYSU #77:Inspired By a Movie

I just saw the movie "We Bought a Zoo" ....I highly recommend it!

Rarely will I watch a movie over and over...but I watched it again with my Mom and then my sister within two weeks (I wanted to be there when they watched it).

I cried everytime.

There are some intense emotional scenes (I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 10).

~My Bowler~

My oldest girlie, Mallory, made it to the Pepsi Bowl State Finals.

I'm so proud of her!

Her favorite colors are pink and black ~ she rocks!

I used Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic Drama to paper piece the bowling ball and pins.

It's double sided, so the possibilities are endless!

The hardest decision?

Pink pins or pink ball???

If only most decisions were that hard! LOL.

I was inspired to splat with my Copics and Memento markers for the

I used a very similar technique here.

I didn't crimp the front cardbase until AFTER I slattered.

I crimped and then I colored the edges with a black Copic marker.

~Matchbook Folder Card~

Make It Monday #65 Background Patterns from Patterned Paper Scraps

inspired me to use my gorgeous strips of DP that litter my desk.

My friend gave me a notepad that looked like a matchbook folder once.

It was on my mind when I designed this card.

 Running out of adhesive?

Bring out your sewing machine!

I sewed on each strip for decor, and then I sewed across the top and bottom for support.

That way, when the front was tucked into the flap, the strips would bend with the card.

It's not going anywhere.

I used a postage stamp diecut (my new favorite shape) for

the Postage Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

This is for my mom's birthday in June- she loves roses!

My colors were pulled from The PlayDate Cafe PDCC131.

Hope you have a great weekend. Take care now.

New Life. New Me

Our Daily Bread Designs SLC103

This week's challenge:
Since spring is now here and signs of new life are happening all around us we want to see creations symbolizing new life…this can be Easter, new baby, budding trees, flowers…..etc.
*Our Daily Bread Designs As You Graduate~Basic Grey Lauderdale DP~Copics and Memento markers~Versamark ink~Whispers black embossing powder*

 The Sweet Stop SSS153

This sketch.

I love to share about my new life.
Since Jesus became my Lord in the spring of 1999, my world changed.

There's still black and white,

good and evil,

happiness and sorrow.

 HOWEVER,

see the rainbow path?

Jesus fills my heart and my future with purpose, meaning and direction.

The beautiful color He paints in my little world has given me hope.

Because I know Him and I KNOW He knows Me and loves me...

I can live!

I used to worry about the legacy I would leave my girlies (back when I only had 2 and they were wittle, wittle).

Was what I offered enough?

Would they have enough joy?

Enough wisdom?

Enough knowledge?

Enough LOVE?

After Jesus saved me...

I no longer worried.

He is more than enough for me to share with them...

and you.

His sacrifice on the cross is everything.
Because of His death on the cross,

and my acceptance of His awesome gift...
I LIVE!
I'm free.
There is color in my world.
Every day IS a new beginning.
May you have a blessed Easter.

~Rainbow Swing~

I created this card recently, but haven't posted it on my blog yet.

*Unity Happiness Is,Copic markers,Georgia Pacific white cardstock,Creative Memories oval cutter,white ribbon,brad,acetate*

I love this image!

Look at her go.

Forgive the glare.

I don't have a rainbow of ribbons.

I used my Copics to color white ribbon,

that's been tied off on the inside of the card.

I hope you like my interactive rainbow card! ;)

I also submitted it to Unity's Pinterest challenge here.

Thanks for stopping in!

~Embrace Life in Tan and Pink~

I kept my card fairly simple today.

*Flourishes Tiny Flowers and Tags,Memento ink tuxedo black,Sizzlet die,Spellbinders Label Eleven,American Crafts Cardstock,American Crafts satin ribbon,K&Company SW Nature pad,October Afternoon Sidewalks DP,Scor-Tape 1/4",Tim Holtz distress tool,Copic R02,Memento marker new sprout,Cuttlebug embossing folder*

I used the sketch from

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #161.

My colors were drawn from

Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger:Simple Elegance.

I used the neutrals and light pink flowers in my design.

I also tried to keep the lines clean (except for the slight distressing).

The sentiment is tiny...but the impact is great.

AMEN, right?!

I really love using it!
