Straight Lines Scare Me, But I'll Get Over It

CAS-ual Fridays has Color Blocking this week!  EEEEEEKKKKK!

I love the IDEA of color blocking.

I have been wanting to try it...oh, just for the fun of it.

But as I have tried to work on this for a day in a half.....

....I remembered....

STRAIGHT LINES SCARE ME!!!!

 I am sure there are some deep rooted issues...

......haven't gotten to the bottom of it.

                     

1.  I am borderline OCD, so I don't like to encourage that.

2. There are so many EXPECTATIONS.  

    (Like, keeping it STRAIGHT for example. ;) )

3.  It is just plain HARD. ;(

Enough whiny...sorry...

IT IS FINISHED.

How fun is it to frame stuff in a TV?  

I HAD to add a splash of pretty in this calm card.

Not a biggie, but I stamped the wood grain strips with fun colors too.

The TV and sentiment???

Such a fun set I was blessed to win from PaperCraftsConnection and Tradefish Designs.

Ok, I was scared, but I Got Over It.  I am a better person for it, I am sure. ;)

Firsthand DP, Rock and Roll

I have only recently bought firsthand DP.  Up until now, I had mostly secondhand paper (pretty and new to me).  However, on my anniversary (I know, not very romantic ;) )...my husband and kids sat in the car while I browsed around a craft store.  Aren't they sweet? ;) 

BTW, we DID go out to eat and he got himself something nice at the sports store-everyone got something!    ;)

 I'm glad I got some brights, because The Play Date Cafe #86

has some FUN, FRESH, FABULOUS colors. ;)

I love these brights!!!  I have three girls...all between 10 and 15.  Fun and fresh is always going on in our house...and they have FABULOUS taste.  If they say my card is "COOL"  or "WOW"...I believe them!  They are in that "cool" age. :)

I purchased some fun paper and added a little surprise ...a pink and orange wood background inked up with the Rock and roll technique from MIM #19.

  

They seemed to like how I used it .....

     They gave me a "Cool!" and "Neat!"

   

 I passed the test! ;)

ODBD Stamping in Time Challenge 37

   I am honored to be a guest designer for Our Daily Bread's Stamping in Time Challenge 37 (SNTODBD37).  The assignment is to use Our Daily Bread Design stamps.  The challenge this time is DP (designer paper) by me. 

   I made my designer paper with ODBD TIME.  I inked up part of the clock.  Then, I stamped "Pray" from the sentiment "Take Time to Pray" and "Time" from "Time to Celebrate".  I repeated those words three times each....like the ticking of a clock....time, time, time....pray, pray, pray.  Then I used a marker to only color the hands of the clock.

This card has a removable paperweight!  I wanted the recipient to have something to tear off and use...so I was thrilled to find these large flat marbles at the back of my craftstore (near the woodworks).  It was the perfect size to highlight the sentiment which I had stamped on a round chipboard piece.

   You can imagine how heavy the paperweight must be. The card has chipboard scored in half for the base, and a recycled, thin, white cardboard for the inside.  It holds up well.  Scor-tape was used to attach the finished marble to the card.

   I also used copper wire strung through a beautiful button and accented with brown beads.

    You are probably wondering why I inked partial images for my paper.  I tried using the whole image at first.  However, the clock is sooo stunning on its own...that I didn't want to cover it up!  I opted for this look instead. ;)

Use ODBD images to create your own background papers.  ODBD background stamps are okay!  Just make sure you have at least one panel that was totally stamped with ODBD images to create the paper.  Remember, the more you play the more you increase your chance to win!

A New World

Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger Rainbow Bright  has such wonderful colors to feast your eyes on!

   Once upon a time, when I was 13, I was hooked on Nancy Drew books!  She had a tasteful wardrobe (or so I was told) ;).  

   She had the perfect outfit for the occasion - whether or not she was in danger ;). 

    I thought life would be grand if I JUST HAD THE OUTFITS to wear!!!

    I don't know if I've changed much from that awkward teen so many moons ago.  Even now, I catch myself falling into the trap of coveting the perfect kitchen, or perfect bath....

...oh how my life would be better with those! ;)

   Since embracing card making...I have discovered a 

FREE PASS!  

It may be silly...but I feel as though I have stumbled upon a new "virtual reality".  I admire gorgeous decor and NOW think...

   I can recreate that design in my next card! 

   It's almost like I ~CAN OWN~ that new lovely! ;)

   

   What a NEW WORLD this has opened up for me!  

   I may not be able to purchase EVERY color of a shirt I like (I always fret over which color would get me the most mileage vs which I really love the best)....

   but I could...

recreate a world

where I can have-

FIVE COLORS!!! ;)

   How fun is THAT????!!!

   Plus, if I spend less on wardrobes and decor...

...maybe I can get more stamps! ;)

3 Challenges & A Heart That Was an Apple

Play Date Cafe Challenge #85 gave me the colors.

MIM #18 Adding Texture gave me the technique.

Card Patterns Sketch 119 gave me the layout.

This time, I made the tissue paper layer the second layer.  I tried two things: embossing it with a texture plate and blocking a part of it with the MatStack 3.  I also used part of a sentiment and part of an apple image...doesn't it look like a heart?

I added two pink circles that I stamped some blue on.  I placed the circles behind the center, so they look like half circles.  I was trying to highlight the sentiment.
