Still Wanna Be Cool

I still wanna be cool...like I mentioned last year here

and I'll say it again. ;)

Plus, I think sand on a card is pretty cool too, if I do say so myself.

I couldn't be at Times Square on New Year's Eve...but I still wore one of these...

It put me in the party mood.

I looked like a superhero when I wore it over my eyes, LOL...I like the crown look better.

I made one for each of my girlies...but they had their "own look" going on~sigh.

I was SO EXCITED too, to find this design at the Silhouette store!

It was way cheaper to cut one out of paper than to buy one.

Then, a bonus...to use it on a card!

Well, HERE WE ARE GUYS AND GALS...A NEW YEAR!!!

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I started out the first few minutes of the new year with a mini panic attack.

OF COURSE I was running through my mind the "bigs" of this coming year,

and then I took a deep breath.

After looking at alllllll that the Lord has done in the McDeavitt home...shaping young ladies into beautiful, confident, joyful souls...

I remembered that HE is the same God that BROUGHT US HERE and He has plans this year that I pray I am privy to. LOL.

I want to be ON BOARD with what He is doing....and not be the one in the way.

Let me say that again...I want to be WITH HIM and not AGAINST HIM.

With that said...may the 2014 marlena listen to His voice and heart~

Make It Monday #145:2013 A la Carte

is a chance to try out a Make It Monday technique you've missed this year.

I gave Make it Monday #114 Blown Ink a try.

It's been a character building year for my family...but I wouldn't take back the storms that God led us through these past 12 months.

We are STRONGER,

WISER,

and God has been and IS faithful in His MERCY and WISDOM.

I'm not going to lie...the storms/thunder still scare me and I don't look forward to them.

But I wouldn't want to go through them without Him.

He is my ROCK for 2014...I pray I stay close close close to His voice and guidance.

We are all going to need it.

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A SERIOUS CARDMAKER WHEN...

You're finally #adulting and spending precious stamp money on ink and Copic refills
You fail the verification test and take another to PROVE you are not a robot
You take the verification test...and break into a sweat to pick the right pictures
You peel an adhesive pearl off your sock, relieved that the little guy has been found
You unashamedly have more pics of your cards than your peeps...they can take a selfie...right?
Your husband cheerfully declares after you've stamped for the first time in months...I can hear the sizzix arm cranking away!!!
You're willing to dump a pile of sand on your dining table ...'cause it makes a prettier photo shoot
You insert in your blog post a saying, and I quote..."Better a bad card than no card" ;)
You whine, "It's so hard to make sequins float!"and your daughter's dry reply ... "Oh the struggles of a cardmaker"
You sacrifice your healthy fingernail...to distress the edges of a card
You walk away from a cute purse...to justify buying a cute decorative punch.
You receive your tracking number ...and obsessively watch your stamp package move across the country. ;)
It takes you 5 minutes to sew a button on a card...but 5 MONTHS to reattach them on trousers!
You're on vacation without your craft items...and you dream that you're stamping.
You're willing to fish around the trash to salvage a roll of 1/2" Scor-Tape you accidently threw away...because it's THAT important
You could sob after inking your HOT Utee-ed image...and it peels off part of your versamark pad... gulp
You find a scrap of cardstock...IN your sock
You are mentally constructing a card... even while watching your favorite show...AND YOUR HUSBAND SUSPECTS IT
You know the Spellbinders' die... without referring to the packaging or website
Your husband teases, "When did you become a Showgirl?"...when he spots glitter highlighting your features at the dinner table
You leave a trail....of papercrumbs to follow
You almost start a fire or burn yourself from embossing...but it was worth it
You have ink... under your nails
You're in turmoil... because you can't come up with a challenge submission
That turmoil has lifted and there is joy in your heart... because an idea has sprung
You're saving the Post Office ...from annihilation
You look around wondering... "How can I fit that on a card?"
You would sacrifice a button or cut up an outfit ...to save a card
You type a gazillion comments... and wake up from a dream
You create the most amazing card... and wake up from a dream
You come out of the shower... with a rhinestone on your knee
You know there are others out there... just like you
You have a shopping tab open while you comment on enablers' creations ;)
